Just joined so I'm introducing myself.
Watch this postI will be 67 next month and retired from the many different jobs in my working life. I guess that I didn’t ever find my calling. I went to university at age 59 but when it was over it was too late to launch a new career. I wanted to lecture but students don’t want to listen to old fogies, so sadly I put aside that idea and settled into life as an eccentric dog owner.
I live in a beautiful Lancashire valley surrounded by hills that demand they be walked/climbed, how could I refuse?
I would like to do a bit of cycle touring but a recent diagnosis of spondylosis and some hip pain means that I may not be doing a world tour anytime soon!
I’m keen to make some friends as I have been on my own for a very long time now, my daughters don’t bother much with me and I don’t have a partner.I didn’t expect to be so isolated at this time in my life, isn’t it strange the way family and friends seem to forget us when we get past 60?
I will pop in regularly and hope to strike up some friendships.

I am pretty well traveled, like good music and good food.
I have made a few errors of judgement in my younger days, but don't regret them as I feel I have lived life to the full. Thing is, I hope there's a long way to go yet and would love to share some of it with someone.

I have lived here near Bristol for the past 5 years having lived and worked in Thailand for 15 Years before that and originally from south London.
Now you've started me off, my life history, should have been a writer (horror).
Bye for now.
Go as a tourist and visit all the tourist spots, then go around again under your own steam. Taxis are cheap (make sure you have an idea how much it will cost first and don't barter with the driver, just close the door politely and wave down another taxi).
Eat from the stalls that are busy, where you have to queue. Things to 'must eat' are:
Spicy prawn soup (tom yang goong), sliced chicken with rice and cucumber + soup and a small serving of spicy sauce (cow mon gai) and rice with fried minced pork with green beans and a fried egg on top. (capow moo sap lagore kai dow).
The list is endless.
I'm off now 'cause I'm hungry.

Onwards and upwards!

I live in Lancashire in a little village called Tarleton, between Southport and Preston.
Well I am sure that you love your dog. I have cats and live alone but at least they are company.
I am in your age group, young minded I like to think. Still working part time 3 days a week.
Love to hear from you.
Kind Regards

What are your dogs names? are they male/female? related? We had a beautiful Bichon Frise who died last year at 16, such a huge miss.
You can send me a private message if you wish. I live in the North of England, midway between Durham and Newcastle.
Suppose name is a mouthful my son and daughter live within walking distance I am lucky that way. My dogs ate female Chihuahuas one tiny white short coat called Trixie who does not know she is little brave as a lion. The other is ginger and white long coat who is the opposite very laid back.My granddaughter has just graduated in zoology did very well my grandson is in second year even though he has just turned 18 reading computer science they are great kids no bother.I am sorry you lost your dog that was a good age.I know it is terrible when you loose them
I find this forum confusing I tried to reply earlier but it went astray. I don't know what I am doing yet sure I will get the hang of it.though. It is good to talk to you I hope I can find you again.
Best wishes
Chihuahualady
Boredom is my problem but mainly due to over the past couple of years things have happened which has made me lose faith in human nature, so I am tending to hibernate. I am married (happily) thank goodness, have one son who is divorced, one granddaughter. I am in the North of England, midway between Durham and Newcastle.
My close friend died at only 64, we have/had two other sets of friends who have gone to live in Majorca, we can't even fly there from Newcastle between October and March. In 2014 I started a new branch of the U3A and am as proud as punch that I have personally changed the life of over 140 people, yet ironically, I have had some unhappiness from this project.
Reading through some other messages, it is clear, there are a lot of people have so many things to put up with and far from easy going lives. I am a Reiki Practitioner and Reflexologist, coming on here has sort of made me feel that I may just take this up again, I did this voluntary for a mental health organization and found the staff as well as the service users got a lot out of it, maybe I am wasting my talents! I am curious if anyone on here as actually ever tried Reiki and what you thought of it.
Muserseven, I hope the sun shines every day for you on holiday and your husband.
Keith
Have never tried Reiki but have heard our other daughter who is a nurse talk about it . Certainly would like to know more about it as mental health nurse is due to see my wife later this week
Should you have any reports on Reiki please pass them on as I suffer from arthritis.
Ray
I am also new to this so here goes!
My name is Fran and I live in London now. I've lived all over the country so can relate to many places. I am also a 'lapsed' reiki practioner who keeps thinking I should restart using it. I only did it for friends and family so not hugely experienced but found it worked.
Would love to get involved in chas/ community so keep me in the loop
Im Linda...live in Bucks...
