Lack of interest?Now...THAT was a very interesting article, which i quite enjoyed reading. And, by the sound of it, i think that i would have quite enjoyed Sagazone for its invigorating style of debate. So, it seems a great pity that it chose to yield to the bullies, and debunkers...and other disreputable types. I, personally, would have opted to ''carry on regardless''...What you have said, though, rings true, with regard to the general lack of response. Obviously, something to do with the age of apathy, the symptoms of which have become all too apparent these days. As for your topic which you mentioned...''God Is Dead''....however...Well, it basically comes down to each individual`s perception of life...and (possible) life after death...But, i don`t believe that you can actually claim that with anything like affirmation, just as i wouldn`t be able to claim that He is very much alive and well, and living, not in Grimsby, perhaps, but somewhere out there in the ''Void'', with any justification. That`s where the ''faith'' part of it comes into play. Anyway, a professed non belief in God is now very questionable, especially after Professor Dawkins has already expressed certain doubts in what HE himself believes in. Maybe a survey should be attempted...to try and ascertain just how many people who began by having a profound belief in a Supreme Deity, then, for whatever reason, stopped having that belief. Then, compare it with the number of respondents who were non believers to begin with. But, then, found reason to begin believing. It would be interesting, i think. And, as far as people`s attitudes go, for the one who has a genuine belief in God...they would tend to have only a certain kind of sadness for the ones who boldly vow that there is no God, rather than actually attack, or insult them. Proselytizing doesn`t normally come into it. Anyway, if you are quite comfortable with your non belief....then, it wouldn`t be appropriate for others to criticize. It`s all about free will, after all. P.S. Love that part about the Australian woman. She may well be the same one whom i`m living next door to....!!ViewDate:

Being AloneI agree. Being alone isn`t healthy, either physically and emotionally, in the long term. But, i think that the actual experience of it can be beneficial....One tends to develop a much clearer perception of the world in general, as well as their immediate surroundings, as there aren`t any distractions of any kind, apart from the usual daily hassles of worrying about making ends meet. But that`s just run of the mill concerns.ViewDate:

Why do some people still cling to religion?...Probably looking at it from the wrong perspective. Aren`t people supposed to possess an element commonly referred to as...''souls''...? And...if so...does this ''soul'' die when the physical body dies..? Or, does it continue to exist in some kind of void...? The choice lies with everyone.ViewDate:

Invisible at 70It`s probably because the general consensus is...when people get to the 70...(plus) mark...they are deemed to have been officially ''decommissioned''. Or, if they haven`t actually been, then they SHOULD have been....It`s one of the many complicated social conventions which go way back....ViewDate:

Funny English expressions ....I suspect that it may well have derived from the cockney dialect at some point in history. Your mention of pawning has given me the idea. So, therefore, by definition, what better place to find Ye Olde pawnshop then in ''Cockneyland''...where they have been in abundance since the onset of the Industrial Revolution. In fact, that particular dialect is probably more cosmopolitan than most people realise, because, a lot of their words and expressions were brought over here to Oz with the convicts, and First Fleeters.ViewDate:

Funny English expressions ....Can anyone enlighten me on this one....''She popped her clogs...down by the bogs...!!''..There`s more to this particular rhyme, evidently. But, i`ll be flummoxed as to what the remainder might be. And...judging by it`s tone...it can only be from one of the unique English dialects...although, which one i`m ''chuffed'' if i know....!!ViewDate:

Should Trump quit now?Oh...THAT question should be quite easy to answer. They were the only two with the necessary powerful connections, AND the vast financial resources to compete for the top job. In the end, of course, it came down to the one who could demonstrate the LESSER corrupt track record...ViewDate:

Should Trump quit now?.....Under the circumstances, i suppose, there didn`t appear to be much of a choice. One...with a less than honourable past. And, the other....a family man...who may, or may not, possess just the right degree of humanitarian ideals. Or, does a job such as being the president of a country like the United States require qualities of utter ruthlessness, especially in these uncertain times....otherwise, he would just be seen as being weak and ineffectual. But, if i was your typical red necked patriotic American, how could i possibly be sure that he hasn`t exploited her for her vast experience in guile and cunning, and...as discreetly as possible, made her one of his numerous advisers...? After all, Mr. Trump doesn`t seem to be the kind of person who would allow talent of any kind to be squandered...regardless of whether the source was virtuous, or not...ViewDate:

Should Trump quit now?He OWNS the Republican party....!! And...as for quitting....might as well tell your dog to quit barking....The devil rewards his own...and makes life for everyone else hell on earth. The only time Mr. Trump will pass into history is when he succumbs to natural causes...which, of course, and as everybody knows...won`t be anytime soon.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading?''State Of fear'', by Michael Crichton. I`m translating from the American English, to the English English as i go along. It`s an intriguing idea, though, that, with the climate change debacle, it isn`t so much about global warming...as global cooling. Does anyone else have any takes on this issue...?ViewDate:

Grumpy cornerAbsolutely spot on....!! I find conformity so boring. Having to think and act like everyone else....So shallow and insincere..!! As an ageing individualist, if i`m still around when they begin rounding up the ''non-cons'', and either shunt us all into permanent ''re-education'' camps...or, for the really recalcitrant, involuntary euthanasia....I shall happily proceed to the end of my tenure on this planet, being what i always have been....I even use elastic bands to prevent my socks from sliding off my feet....There...! How gloriously individualistic is that....!!ViewDate:

Love - what on earth is it?That`s absolutely true. Genuine feelings of affection between two people tend to mature with age. There is this factor of realism which comes into it, although it would be next to impossible to determine exactly when that occurs. It would be quite different for every couple, i can only suppose. And, for those who truly believe in love, but experience difficulty in actually finding it...i would encourage them never to give up, but keep looking. You will just know if and when you really find it.ViewDate:

Should we abandon marriage? That`s just white washing the whole issue. It`s only people who have the inability to both nurture and sustain a loving relationship, who conveniently condemn it. Those who strive for higher ideals are searching for something much more fundamental in life. Have sex, and move on...? Move on to what...? Must get pretty meaningless, after a while, to have a seemingly endless series of sexual encounters...most of which are driven by social conditioning and expectation, anyway.ViewDate:

Should we abandon marriage? No. That isn`t the kind of love which i was referring to. Not the love which usually comprises the ''in love'' situation. It`s something else...which has the potential to transcend all boundaries and human emotions.ViewDate:

Should we abandon marriage? To answer the original question...should marriage be abandoned...Most definitely not. I stand by what i said before. Why would anyone in their right mind want to spend the rest of his, or her life with the same person...? Well..duh...maybe it has something to do with the fact that they have a profound LOVE for that person. And...oh...think of the emotional security which comes with the package. Has to be experienced to be believed. As for the apparent fragile nature of love...that it can actually DIE...am still trying to get my head around THAT little snippet. I thought it was as perennial as the grass. One can strangle it...suffocate it...suppress it...deny that it was ever there...glue a stick of dynamite to it, and try to blow it up. But, it can never be killed. I rest my case. Amen.ViewDate:

Should we abandon marriage? No. I don`t think that it`s unnatural at all. As for not being emotionally, or psychologically programmed, ...i would have to disagree with that, as well. I would have thought that the very opposite would be the actual case. Let`s face it. Everyone has an intrinsic requirement to feel emotionally connected with that special someone. And, marriage, as an institution, serves only to reinforce that bond. It isn`t easy, of course. It`s something to be worked at..continuously. But, with a sufficient amount of commitment and dedication towards each other, the many and varied complex challenges can be overcome. But, the most important ingredient is, of course...LOVE...Most people are emotionally programmed to be loved, and to love in return. Those who are not...are missing out on something extremely vital to one`s life force.ViewDate:

Pen palsYes. That`s true. There is also the one called ''Global Penpals'', which is reputed to be quite good, and relatively free from scammers, although, i don`t think that there is any pen pal site which could claim to be 100 % scammer free. One just has to use some discernment. And, it`s surprisingly easy to do that, after a little practice.ViewDate:

What book are you currently reading? At the moment, i`m still ploughing through Edward Rutherfurd`s ''Russka''....It`s over a thousand pages in length, so it will take me a little while yet to finish. The insight, and the historical narrative of different periods in Russia, from just before the Empire of the Mongols, right through to the early part of the 20th. century, are very interesting.ViewDate:
