The Oriana is sailing 22nd October f(or those of you not familiar with her she is a mid sized P & O ship) it is a 35 day cruise featuring the Caribbean, Mexico, Jamaica, South Carolina , Fort Lauderdale, to mention but a few, anyone interested in sharing a cabin for the wonderful price of £1,6666 look it up for yourself and get in touch if you are interested. I was to do this cruise in April this year but on April 1st mt cruise companion suffered a stroke, I would still love to do it.

One way that might help is to click on your SS name when it is displayed in the forum and clickable. You should get a list of your previous messages.
Response from KEITH_WL made on 12th Sep 2016 19:44:31
Apologies - ignore that last suggestion. It's crazy but that method seems to work for others though not for oneself!
Response from Silversurfers Editor Original Poster made on 12th Sep 2016 23:30:23
Have you looked in your Homepage .. this is your mission control and should show your your recent comments in the Forum and hopefully you will track down the responses there too. 🙂

Response from Silversurfers Editor Original Poster made on 13th Sep 2016 13:18:22

Response from KEITH_WL made on 13th Sep 2016 15:49:42
Doesn't it show everyone's history, making one person's hard to find? As I have pointed out elsewhere, clicking a member's name usually shows that person's posts but it doesn't work for one's own previous posts, which is the question here.
Response from sammy1 made on 17th Sep 2016 11:47:21
Don't know but I have now revert ed back to putting my email bloodjoan@ hotmail.com am interested in going to Croatia Sammy1

Good.....the setup is back to normal LOl

I am well travelled but when a comparative stranger is with me , Iv'e only done it once and actually knew the Female socially. I wouldn't do it again . She was a pain in the **** and wouldn't spend a penny., not even to send a postcard .I am quite chatty and find it easy to meet and chat to Holidaymakers at the Hotel or around the Pool I and you can make Friends on Holiday quite easily..
Another way of meeting people is to book your Holiday with a Singles Agency , that's good fun and if you havn't got anything to do over Christmas , book with one. My personal opinion is....it might be wise to wait until you know someone well before considering travelling with them.

Good Luck
Response from Fflorielle made on 13th Aug 2016 07:16:43
I can only speak as I find and I was very lucky with my companion, I also did it with someone I had met only twice and both were a success resulting in more enjoyable holidays.
Response from Capricorn made on 13th Aug 2016 07:29:07
Hi Florielle, that's good....were they Members of Silver Surfer. ? Are you still in touch.? I have never advertised for a travelling companion and nowadays just book a Holiday and get to know people there ....I am quite chatty so find it easy to meet people LOL
Response from coady made on 19th Aug 2016 10:16:16
Hi Capricorn I had same experience with a 'friend' Id been introduced to. She was a nightmare!!! We went on cruise and because our circumstances were similar ( both widowed) we went on hols, big mistake.
Response from Capricorn made on 19th Aug 2016 10:31:58
Morning Coady . yes , you have to be careful who your choose to holiday with. I was in Lanzarote a couple of months ago , had a great time became friendly with 2 Women (Sisters) from Liverpool and met up with them every night to watch the Cabaret and have a drink afterwards. We swapped email addresses and keep in touch . They have given me good info on various Hotels and in return I send them jokes. LOL
Response from Cathie Anne made on 2nd Sep 2016 15:53:25
I agree you really need to know someone well before sharing a cabin or otherwise with them. I have never tried a solo holiday but feel this would be far more enjoyable than sharing with a relative stranger. You not tied in, so to speak. Most folk want to talk and be sociable. Using a reputable holiday company has benefits too.
Response from Capricorn made on 10th Sep 2016 18:18:17
I am getting used to travelling on my own , met some great people and even if you start off a bit shy, a Holiday Resort is the best place to make friends easily. Go for it I say. LOL

Response from Lindylootoo made on 8th Aug 2016 07:58:15
I'd be interesting in going to Spain. There's a resort on the coast just north of Malaga, called Nerja, which has a fair number of activities available and is central enough to travel or walk to other towns. It also has plenty of walking opportunities e.g. bus to an inland village, walk back........ Trip Advisor has a full list, including festivities, markets etc. Could be good for a week or so.
Response from pansypotter made on 25th Aug 2016 08:08:37
What type of holiday are you interested in I used to go to Spain a lot to but have nobody to go with now
Response from Jacrotraveler made on 4th Sep 2016 22:13:59
Interested in walking on the Camino? I'm looking to do next fall! I stared moderate training now, and I tend to do some extensive 10-15 mile walks by next June. I'm 67, educated and just retired- live in Washington St. My travel friend has plantar F!!! Thinks she cannot recover!

Having looked at singles holidays for the first time, unless somebody can recommend me a singles travel company where I can get a good level of luxury whilst not living out of a suitcase for a couple of weeks touring around I intend returning to Cuba or Sri Lanka either late this year or early next. Obviously I will have to pay the single supplement whilst this isn't to much of a problem it would be nice to have company. Anyone interested?

Hi,

My name is John (UK based), late 50's, and I'm seeking a travel companion on my trip to South America. The trip will be 2 to 3 months in duration. I have outlined a basic itinerary: Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Brazil, with possible side trips to Chile and Uruguay (time permitting). The itinerary is flexible, and any input / ideas are more than welcome.

I'm easy going, with a good sense of humour.

Incidentally, even if you only want a leg of the journey eg Peru, still feel free to contact me.

Prefer to hear from people in the midlands area, so that we could meet up beforehand.

Editor:

The site is dreadful. Very poorly designed difficult to follow threads and pick up messages. I am pretty savvy when it comes to social sites, and this is by far the very worst I have tried to get around

No good telling folk to check their home page. I feel the site need a complete re-design. Not that difficult, surely?

Thank you for your feedback Laraine50 ... We are currently reviewing the navigation of our website, and will hope to make it more simple to use. Have you found your Homepage yet? This is the best place to track all your conversations .. here is a link to help you: https://www.silversurfers.com/my-homepage/

Best wishes, Sally 🙂
Response from Fflorielle made on 21st Jun 2016 07:50:42
Yes it is rather difficult
Response from KEITH_WL made on 21st Jun 2016 13:43:41
Hi Sally. Adding my two penn'orth, I noticed this morning that the 'Close Chat Window' and 'Delete Chat' buttons sit very close to one another. While this is unlikely to be a problem on a desktop, on a tablet (which it was) it's a different matter. I have large, arthritic hands, consequently am clumsy.

When the software is modified will you make sure of a greater separation between such buttons?

Keith

Hello adventurouslady ... this is a thread in a Forum topic about meeting travel companions, and not a website dedicated to finding travel companions ... is this possibly why there is some confusion?

I find it difficult to navigate to hence I didn't come back to it for 6 months just find it so complicated

I would love to try this, usually travel with family or friends and have also done a couple of solo trips. I am keen to visit the Cape Verde islands but no one I know seems to be interested. I will probably go solo but would not mind nowing if anyone on here would be interested. I am 61 years old, still working, single and live in Manchester. Like I mentioned before, family and friends not keen. It would be some time in 2017.
Response from Fflorielle made on 18th Aug 2016 07:09:35
I know someone who has been there and she said there is nothing to do outside the hotel and it is a very windy place, she would not go back.
Response from smudger15 made on 18th Aug 2016 18:13:32
I might be interested. My sister and husband are going in January. If they give it the thumbs up id like to go.
Response from KimFh made on 24th Aug 2016 13:01:46
Yes I have been and there is nothing there, so unless you want to sunbathe all day, I wouldn't bother.

Hi, has anyone gone away with a complete stranger and enjoyed it, would love to here anyone views, I would love to meet like minded travellers for Europe, maybe Italy to name one place.
Response from KEITH_WL made on 22nd May 2016 22:08:10
Perhaps the trick is to do some preparation so that the person isn't a total stranger. Not quite the same thing but I have met a few Internet contacts - with a good success rate. Keith
Response from Lib made on 8th Aug 2016 23:44:31
I met and spent a week on a narrowboat with a complete stranger and we had a blast. Spent about three months chatting back and forth and discussing expectations, shared costs etc. Made a new friend. Planning a second trip next year. Be careful, use your head, make sure you are comfortable with the person and that others know what is going on, where you will be and with whom. If they aren't willing to share that information then don't do it!
Response from Campolady made on 12th Aug 2016 10:59:07
Yes, joined an Internet travel site and met up with four ladies, one American, one Indian and two fellow Brits, spent four weeks travelling around Costa Rica and Panama with no problems at all. I think the key fact is go with a sense of adventure, humour and an open mind with the attitude that you are going to make things work out fine. Meet up first, have a list of questions that you want to ask each other, set a rough budget that suits all and get on with it? Happy Travels.

Sorry for my delay in replying. Still bumbling my way around this site and not making a good job of it. About your train journey to the Baltic, I don't really know but thought it may be too expensive for me as it seems train journeys are now so pricey. Then there would be accommodation and food and seeing all the sites would be a must. A little different from a package hol to Spain maybe?
