Lonely and vulnerable and looking to chat

I’m alone, I have no family support or friends.

I’m sad to think that I have two neighbours both know that I’m alone and disabled yet not one of them has even put a note through my door to ask if I’m ok , what happened to community support!!

Has Scotland just decided to look after number one??

I would appreciate it if I just had someone to talk to 😢

Hello Kiara,
Just joined this afternoon, and like you, live in Scotland.
So sorry to hear your comments...its a pity but unfortunately some
people simply do not care as I know from personal experience within
my own family. I would love to chat with you....and anyone else feeling
lonely in these troubled times.
Will look forward to hearing from you.

I am so sorry to see this post. I see you have written it a we while ago Kiara and I have recently joined Silversurfers so I hope you have had some good replies by now. Where in Scotland are you. I'm in Ayrshire and this lockdown is getting us down but we have to keep cheerful and look out for one another - please reply.
Response from fernwalker12 made on 11th May 2020 00:26:13
Hello MayaMac,

Are you still in lockdown? I haven’t checked the news today. They set us “free” last week here in South Carolina. Since then I have done some exploring. I lived in Maine along the coast before coming here to be with my daughter and grandchildren, so the ocean was always near. Here in SC, I’m about an hour away. Last Sunday I was aching to see the ocean, so I drove to Sullivan’s Island where I discovered only residents were allowed on the island. Fortunately, the officer let me drive onto the island to have a brief look at the ocean because I had come so far. Bless his heart he made my day!

Hi yes we have been informed 3 more weeks for us although England is moving forward at a different pace. Personally I would like the whole of Britain to advance together but sadly that us not going to be. Your outing sounds fabby and well done on your ‘release’ . Have a great day x

Hello KiaraR,

If they haven’t contacted you to see how you’re doing, then you should contact them to see how they are doing so you can then tell them how you’re doing. Sometimes you have to do things backwards to get the results you want and have a sense of humor in the process.

There are so many wonderful things to do indoors! Make new friends on Silversurfers, surf the Internet on any topic that comes to mind because as you know - the Internet is the largest library in the world! You can teach yourself any number of things using the Internet, like knitting, drawing, painting, writing, guitar playing, and the list goes on and on!

I hope you will reach out to people. I’m sure you’ll find new friends if you do.

Hello KiaraR. It's good that you have stretched out to talk to us on Silversurfers. I'm new on here too. It's sad that your neighbours haven't just tapped the window to check you don't need anything I have the same here on Thurs Eve's as I am the only one in my row who comes out to clap for the Key Workers. I just make more noise... Who knows what's going to happen. Hope you have some sort of a lifeline?.

Are you able to put a note through their door to ask if they are OK? Especially at this terrible time.
A lot of the time people get so wrapped up in their own lives they need a jolt of somebody else showing some humanity to get them moving in the right direction.
I understand being isolated. Virus took my job, have to stay home except for necessary shopping and dog and cat just don't talk that much.

Hi KiaraR... Like yours , my neighbours aren't community minded, and don't bother to ask if they can help... I'm disabled and my husband has renal failure, so though I have him to chat to, I'd love to chat to others... I'm finding being stuck in all the time getting me down... Our son lives in Northamptonshire and he can't visit...
So if you still want someone to chat to, I'd love to hear from you

Take care

Suggest you make the first move by explaining who you are and asking if they are keeping well and how coping with the social distancing. Scots are famed for their hospitality and by reaching out in this positive way you may find they appreciate hearing from you.

Do you speak when you see theses neighbours ?
I also live alone and disabled
I have a dog called prince
Who is my saviour.
My family FaceTime me
2/3 times a day.
To make sure I’m ok
Things are not the same
As it was years ago
You knew everyone
But hopefully with this virus
It will bring people together
Hope you are ok
And would like a chat

Hiya Kiara R
I know the feeling. It is the same in Cornwall. I am also disabled and used to go out for a walk, just for a few minutes just by my flat. Up to a week ago I could go to the nearest carpark and walk around there for five minutes and see no one.

Last Sunday 6/4 I saw three youths and a girl together walking along the road and several people have notice more people out and about and a lot more cars. No more walking for me for a while. People do not observe the 2metres either.

I do some crafts when I am able and I read.
Response from Wilf made on 14th Apr 2020 21:08:18
Hello Mari50-I hope you are well. I spent 6 months in lovely Cornwall back in 1979 working in hotels there as a waiter. I had a mini with a friend which we bought for only £25 and explored the lovely county. Where could you buy a car now for £25!

My brain needs nourishing. Challenges to work. Needs communication. Hear the opinion of others.

Sitting in lockdown. Alone, Do not know anybody here in Copenhagen area. Highlight of the day is a walk to the local supermarket. Unbearable.
Response from Wilf made on 10th Apr 2020 14:14:28
Hello Life100-I went to Copenhagen many years ago and loved it. Very peaceful and lovely city. Do you work there?
Response from Jules49 made on 10th Apr 2020 16:29:20 > @Wilf
Hi Wilf. It must indeed be very lonely if you don't know anyone , these are very worrying times that I never expected to see in my lifetime. Who would have thought that going to the supermarket would be the only highlight in the day , and that is not without a feeling of stress .
Are you in Copenhagen for work ? I have never been there , but I'm sure it must be a beautiful place
I hope the scientists can find a vaccine sooner rather than later , and bring an end to this terrible time .

Hello Kiara, well written. Know the feeling.
Am in sort of the same situation, early 60ies ('early in 60ies sounds redicuous), with more than one academic credentials. Where is the online chatroom here?
Forum is slow and boring and not really a platform to exchange thoughts, fears and worries.

I am currently living in Demark. Are from Germany. Was in U.K. - among others - to study. But this was a long time ago when life seamed endless and appeared to be full of goodies
