i have now been widowed longer than i was married, and because of ladies playing games,or having been abused and believing that all men are thugs and want to control ladies, or simply use them as chattles or concubine?

i have completely given up on finding new genuine lady friends to chat with and see if things developed
have other members been a victim to the same situation?
Response from Ariadne made on 14th Jan 2021 07:19:33
Hello. my situation is ,,that I respond to male and female members ,put my own chats in,, and I.m just ignored .So ,shall you and I give it a go ?
Response from Mrchipps1 made on 14th Jan 2021 10:51:10 > @Ariadne
Hi Ariadne
Thanks for your reply, sadly only you can decide what is the best thing to do, but you could always give it a go , and if you get replies then its a bonus, but if you don't, then nothing lost
I too have done the same as you, but I still keep trying

on another tack ,i have used many dating sites and met a couple of ladies, but sadly they have had unhappy past lives, with men and are so hurt or damaged that they believe that all men are the same,
I have also found that some dating site profiles are fake, for various reasons
which of course is not always true

Please feel free to chat with me, no strings attached, its a very lonely world out there on your own. i had been on my own over 25 years, and it does not get easier
take care Mr Chipps
Response from Ariadne made on 14th Jan 2021 16:59:44 > @Mrchipps1
Hello .again .I had to smile at your comments. Dating sites are not my scene ,,,,at all. I don't
want, or need a man in my life, I much prefer horses. I finally realised ,that I was either good at picking bad men ..or bad at picking good men . ,so I stopped,
It's a decider ,if you are lonely .... or alone .. Being alone is not a bad thing ,choices about
everything are all in your hands ,being lonely .is easily solved .I just go somewhere ,anywhere .and there is always someone who you can start a conversation with ..except today ,I am really in Lock down with snow ,masses of it. car was to have it's MOT but I
cancelled it when i looked out .
Don't know if you like poetry ,but there quite a few of mine on the literature bit ,,some of them should make you smile
I gather that you need a woman in your life ,probably a tad like rocking horse manure .
non existent . I enjoy talking to people . especially on here ,,I don't have to do anything ,,but talk
Response from Mrchipps1 made on 15th Jan 2021 13:32:34
Ariadne
thanks for your message about loneliness and the cure being in a persons own hands!!!
on this i have to disagree with you, because several times, i like you have gone out and spoken to people in cafes and parks etc, sometimes it was positive, but several other times have been negative and left me feeling like a leper, wishing that i had not bothered and stopped at home
i have also gone on coach holidays and been made to feel very unwelcome, and the more it happens, the more it makes a person feel bad?

i find that things can be worse with couples, who think that i am simply on the pull, like all single men
. i was once accused of that by a doctor of Sociology at university,
(she finished up being told she was a SEXIST BITCH) by the other university students in the group i was a member of. i know from experience that single women are more readily accepted than men are, for several reasons

you and i probably have very different circumstances in our lives, that have led to us being on our own.
it does not bother me ,that you compare horses to men and prefer horses, i personally dont like horse as i am afraid of them!
yes i love poetry and have also got some of my poems on the culture section of this site
my biggest success was to have 4 poems, about !organ donation" displayed in Cape town South Africa , for over 2 years. i stopped counting when iI reached over 2000 poems.

I have hobbies, but as a person i am a social animal and love company and meeting people, but after 25 years on my own, i still feel lonely and like company, either as companions or in a meaningful relationship

Best wishes Mr Chipps1

Hello, Ariadne.
I`m a fairly new member and a bit pathetic at finding my way around anything new. I replied to many of the posts, but have had only a few responses. I`ve also suggested several topics, but again with limited interest. Anyhow. Look. I`ve responded to you. Now it`s up to you.
Response from Rayot made on 15th Jan 2021 16:41:27 > @Ariadne
Gosh, Ariadne, how can you not have a man in your life. I think women are wonderful. They just don`t reciprocate my admiration, or share my sense of humour. To remind you of sunshine it is beautiful here in the Algarve, Portugal.
Response from Mrchipps1 made on 15th Jan 2021 16:56:34 > @Rayot
Hi Rayot,

i purposely didnt ask Adriana how she can live without a man in her life, because her comment made it plain that she sees men as being demeaning, inferior and less important than men?
i accept her decision and will leave it at that?
Response from Mrchipps1 made on 15th Jan 2021 17:01:41 > @Rayot
Hi Rayo, i too sometimes find it hard to navigate my way around some web sites, but now that i started to get more self confident and build my self esteem, i don.t give in as easily as used to
I often wonder what the creators of some sites are thinking when they design them, probably that everyone is the same and sees and thinks as they do. when i create my poetry i do what my heart and mind tells me, and do not think of future readers needs lol

Hi dr,

How very nice to meet you. The weather is cool in Kansas. I’ve been using the wood stove to heat the house. I haven’t turned the propane on yet. The cats love to sit in front of the fire. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Feline Friend…I’m 71 and live with my two best friends—my Star and my Luna. The three of us live with my rescue Great Pyrenee dog Happy. We live in an old farmhouse on an acreage in the middle of nowhere in Kansas. Nice to meet you!
Response from FELINEFRIEND made on 12th Sep 2024 15:48:10 > @Dennis71
Hi Dennis
Thanks for your message
I live with my husband and our 3 cats in the west midlands in England.
It's not very warm here at the moment,it's now 14 degrees which is a tad cool for September
I have a penpal from the USA she lives in Cleveland, Ohio, she tells me it's been very hot their the past couple of months.
What kind of things do you grow on your farm.
I love gardening and flowers but being in a small townhouse we don't have a very big garden so grow a lot in pots.
I bet your dog is beautiful,I love Pyrenean mountain dogs.
I'm looking after my neighbours 2 cats for a couple of weeks now they are on holiday,I tend to look after most of the neighbours cat's during the holidays, they know I like animals
Well hope you have a good weekend, take care, ann
Response from Dennis71 made on 13th Sep 2024 01:05:53 > @FELINEFRIEND
Hi Again FelineFriend,

I live on 10 acres, and grow a huge garden. My tomatoes did very well this year. I give most of them away, and have run out of friends that want them. My wife passed on March 4th, 2023. This is not such a good place to live alone. It was wonderful when there were two of us, and I wasn’t prepared to be by myself.

It has been hot, and very dry here in Kansas for many weeks. The real farmers worry about their corn and soybean yields. I wish you could mail some of that cool weather to Kansas. I’ll trade you some tomatoes for it.
Response from FELINEFRIEND made on 13th Sep 2024 17:25:15 > @Dennis71
Hi Dennis
Hello from a chilly blighty today,it's actually been sunny today but a maximum of 14 degrees and some rural areas had frost this morning
Our tomatoes have been rubbish this year, not enough sunshine to make them grow or ripen same as the blueberries.
I'm really sorry to hear your wife passed away last year,it can't be very nice living in a very rural area on your own.
Do you have any family who visit you
There's only 2 of us,we don't have children and no close relatives apart from my almost 95year old mom whom I spend a lot of time looking after, I've been with her most of today.
I'm looking after my neighbours 2 cats for two weeks that's keeping me busy also
My husband works full time in a garden centre but I don't work now as I look after mom a lot of the time
I hope you have a good weekend and send some warm sunshine our way please
Bye for now,Ann
Response from Dennis71 made on 13th Sep 2024 23:49:33 > @FELINEFRIEND
Hi again,

Please forgive me for writing again. John Prine wrote in a song, “Everybody needs somebody that they can talk to.” As I age alone on this farm his words are so prophetic it sends shivers down my spine. Yes, I have four grown children, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They are scattered to the winds, but I do communicate regularly with several of them. I have four brothers and two sisters still living. We are all elderly, and suffer from various ailments. Cancer (which took my lovely Alisa) has invaded two of my brothers. A third is on dialysis and the fourth has had heart surgery, although he has recovered well. I’m lucky in that a hip replacement has been my only ailment. Father Time has worked his magic on my immediate family. It is our turn. Or soon will be.

As I sit on this porch with not a car or person in sight I realize how living in this isolated spot in the world has governed my relationships with my family. While Alisa was alive it wasn’t a big deal. She loved the isolation, and she loved taking care of the house and the porches. I built her a teahouse for our twentieth anniversary. We sat out there many summer nights with a glass of wine and listened to music. The teahouse has been empty since she died. I haven’t painted the porch floors since she died. I haven’t cared enough to do it. The barn swallows tried to build nests and left splotches of mud on the porch ceiling. Alisa would never stand for such things, and would insist on cleaning the mud off. I can’t bring myself to care.

Thanks for talking to me. Everybody needs somebody that they can talk to.

Dennis

Response from KimP4 made on 24th Sep 2024 20:51:37 > @Dennis71
Dennis , your words brought such a sad picture to. me. When we lose someone we have lived with for so long, it just changes our whole outlook on life and can feel there is no future for us anymore. I'm no psychiatrist but maybe you could set a day to do those jobs that your Alisa would have done, You will feel better, I have been through something similar. My husband was diagnosed with dementia, he went into care in April. Trying to go on living in our home felt wrong, but I had to learn to do the jobs he would have done - the 'man' jobs and it honestly made me feel so much better. Something to tackle and challenge me. Anyway I hope things improve in your life. Stay strong. KimP
Response from Dennis71 made on 25th Sep 2024 03:20:55 > @KimP4
Thank you Kim. I’m sorry about your husband’s condition, and I commend you for your positive outlook. I can’t find a lot of things to be positive about. I suppose depression is part of it. And being isolated doesn’t help. I promised Alisa I would care for our kitties, Star and Luna. And I have a Great Pyrenee named Happy who is 12 years old and needs me. The three of them are my family now….the family I live with. It’s funny you mentioned I should take a day “to do those jobs Alisa would have done.” I thought the same thing after I wrote the letter on the 13th of Sep. I asked myself why I insisted on wallowing in self-pity. I painted the west porch floor last Friday, and am starting to repair the east porch floor this week. Maybe tomorrow I’ll tackle the barn swallow nests.

The saddest part of my life is the teahouse. It was an “every summer evening adventure” for Alisa and I for many years. We both loved music. We took our phones and Bluetooth speakers out there every night, often listening and talking until midnight. Everything just feels so empty now. Everything is quiet. No one knows or cares about how Alisa and I spent our summer evenings. Except me. I’m considering moving to get away from the memories.

Thank you for talking.

Dennis

Hi Suzz1…I have a granddaughter living in Missouri. And a great-granddaughter. She and her husband live on a farm in the southwestern part of the state. Fall is coming. The nights are getting cool. I hope the trees are pretty in your area. I used to love seeing the trees in Arkansas in the fall. Fiery red. And beautiful.
