Hi Dennis Hello from a chilly blighty today,it's actually been sunny today but a maximum of 14 degrees and some rural areas had frost this morning Our tomatoes have been rubbish this year,not enough sunshine to make them grow or ripen same as the blueberries. I'm really sorry to hear your wife passed away last year,it can't be very nice living in a very rural area on your own. Do you have any family who visit you There's only 2 of us,we don't have children and no close relatives apart from my almost 95year old mom whom I spend a lot of time looking after, I've been with her most of today. I'm looking after my neighbours 2 cats for two weeks that's keeping me busy also My husband works full time in a garden centre but I don't work now as I look after mom a lot of the time I hope you have a good weekend and send some warm sunshine our way please Bye for now,Ann

Hi Dennis Thanks for your message I live with my husband and our 3 cats in the west midlands in England. It's not very warm here at the moment,it's now 14 degrees which is a tad cool for September I have a penpal from the USA she lives in Cleveland, Ohio, she tells me it's been very hot their the past couple of months. What kind of things do you grow on your farm. I love gardening and flowers but being in a small townhouse we don't have a very big garden so grow a lot in pots. I bet your dog is beautiful,I love Pyrenean mountain dogs. Hi Anita Hope you enjoyed passenger We enjoyed watching Paul o Grady, I've only just finished washing up,we didn't have dinner until 6,30 has hubby was working today,has to work alternative weekends I'm sure you would like Trentham garden centre there's plenty to look at and a little shopping village in the grounds. I'm sure you will enjoy Cornwall, lovely scenery and also in the lakes,do you go self catering or do you stay in hotel We got 2 good deals for our 2 holidaya abroad we booked early when there were discounts available We wouldn't go abroad in summer be to hot and much more expensive. We have 3 cats so we have a pet sitter comes in twice a day to feed them. Have to organise extra carer's for mom also when we go away it' involves a lot of planning when we go away lol Sleep well, goodnight Ann x

Hi Anita Oh I hope you enjoy the lakes and port Isaac, that's where they filmed doc Martin isn't it We like to go abroad in February and October,we went to the Algarve for my birthday in February that was lovely and we are going to Cyprus in October, during the summer we usually do short breaks in UK I always go in Morrisons at bilston I always park on their car park and do a bit of shopping in their I sometimes go in their cafe or debs diner near the market. Hi Anita I haven't been to the garden centre at Bromsgrove. My husband has Mondays off work and we are going to Trentham garden centre tomorrow,we like it their plenty to look at and we usually have a meal at the Toby carvery in Trentham village while we are their. I find it hard to find my message on this site to,I have to go through a long list of other messages before I find mine,if you would like my email address anytime I can give it to you if it's easier. I'm going to book a day trip next week with one of the ladies I met up with yesterday,a local coach company does mystery day trips twice a month for 18 pounds,they don't go to far usually within 80 miles they are good value and it saves me driving. My parents used to have friends at brierley hill years ago and we used to visit all the little towns around the area when we went to visit them. I like to go to bilston market, it's only a small town but the people are friendly and I usually find some bargains on the market. We don't go to Birmingham now, I've gone off it since a lot of the shops have closed down in the bullring and I preferred the old outdoor market I think the soul has gone out of the place now and all the places we used to go for lunch have closed down since covid Are you going away on holiday this year,we are going to Bournemouth the end of may for a few days. Hi Anita I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. It's really wet and blustery here today,I'm going to mom's soon she wants to go to Morrisons in her chair, she just likes to have a bacon Sarnie in the cafe their. I went to Lichfield yesterday,met a couple of ladies I know and we had a meal at a restaurant their,we usually meet up about once a month. It's nice you go to keep fit class and the ladies are nice their,I wish their were more classes or social groups round by us but there's nothing only the one floral class I go to in Walsall and they close for all the school holidays. Which garden centres do you like to visit, have you been to the ashwood centre at Kingswinford that's really nice,not to mention the lovely tea rooms and all the yummy cakes lol I hope you have a nice day today, take care from Ann

Hi, Yes I can imagine it's very hard for you missing your mom, I speak to mom every day either in person or on the phone. I'm taking mom out today, she doesn't go far now as she's 94 and her health and mobility are very poor,but she does like me to take her out in the wheelchair 2 or 3 times a week we only stay local, sometimes we go to Morrisons and have a snack in the cafe or we go to a garden centre. How old was your mom when she passed away,if you don't mind me asking. My husband does enjoy working with the plants and I love visiting garden centres and going to a few flower shows although the coach trips to flower shows are getting really expensive now so I don't do as many as we used to. My husband doesn't drive but I do but I don't drive on motorways. Can I ask your name please, and as you are known as pisces is your birthday in February or march,I'm a pisces also, I was 59 on the 24th February. I joined a local friendship group recently but there are only 3 of us we try to meet up once a month for a lunch somewhere,we are meeting this Saturday,it's a bit difficult to organise sometimes as the ladies are very busy with helping family with grandchildren and work commitments but it's nice when we can meet up for a chat. Good morning I'm sorry to hear you lost your mom quite recently,I don't know how my life would be when anything happens to mom as I spend a lot of time with her and I don't have any other family. I lost my dad 27 years ago,he had to sudden fatal heart attack. I like holidays in the UK also, I love Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads and I like mid Wales and the West Wales coast it's just as you said if only we got the weather. We are going to Bournemouth for a few days the end of next month and hoping to do some sightseeing around the new forest area. It's lovely you have a son and 2 grandchildren,I expect they keep you occupied. My husband works full time at a garden centre, he's 60 now. Hi, Thanks for your reply,oh you live in Dudley,no it's not far from us,I haven't been that way for a long time,used to go to merry hill sometimes. You don't hear much about people having tortoise now they used to be very popular when I was young,I'm 59 by the way. We had a tortoise but it escaped under the fence. Do you have any family,we don't have any children just 2 of us. Where do you like to go for your holidays We are going to Bournemouth for a few days next month,we like to go abroad out of season like February and October when it's quieter and cooler but still warmer than UK. Hi their Oh the nature park sounds beautiful, when my dad was alive we used to take our dog for walks at Perry Barr park and to kings heath park they were both lovely It's nice you have a decent sized family around you,I only have my old mom no other family at all apart from hubby and he doesn't see any family either, I've got a couple of friends I see occasionally. I like to go on coach trips sometimes,we did a 5 day trip to the isle of wight a couple of weeks ago and in August we are going to the Rhine valley for a long weekend and there are 2 steam train trips included in the weekend we are looking forward to it. Hi their Thanks for your reply, I sometimes find this site difficult to navigate Everything is growing well in the garden now and the rain did a lot of good on Sunday I'm going to the gardeners world flower show with a friend at the NEC on Friday I'm really looking forward to it and the food show is on in another hall also. Where did you go for your walk the weekend was it nice We went to Stafford on Monday there's a nice park their I took my car in for a repair this morning and my friend picked me up from the garage and we went to weather spoons for a light breakfast muffin and coffee it was good I've been at mom's a lot recently she's 93 and has a bad water infection at the moment she relies on my help a lot as I'm her only family Do you have anyone at home with you,I'm married just the 2 of us no children we have 3 ruined cats ga ha have a good day from Ann xx

Hi their Just on train going home from Brum to bloxwich We were surprised by how it's all changed since we last went before the pandemic,I said to my husband I might be old fashioned but I liked it how it was before all the modernisation,I loved the old bull ring and the outdoor market and all the atmosphere but I suppose things have to progress. We had a nice lunch in the pizza hut and walked round the bull ring shopping centre. It's getting warmer now in the sun I shall be doing some watering when we get home in the garden. Hi their Hope you have had a good day and enjoyed the sunshine Today I took my mom to chasewater ,we had a bit of lunch their and a walk by the lake,do you know it their it's ideal for nature photography. I planted begonias and petunias and busy Lizzie's in the hanging baskets yesterday. Where is the nature park that you visit We are going to Birmingham tomorrow on the train it will be our first visit to the city centre since the pandemic I'm quite looking forward to it. Hi catlover,I haven't been on this site for a very long time so please forgive me if I'm commenting in the wrong place,I'm a bit rusty at it. I read on your first comment you have a kitten and a budgie, that's lovely. We had a kitten a few weeks ago he's now 15 weeks old and due his second jab tomorrow. We have 3 cats and 2 strays which I look after. I also love gardening and visiting garden centres. I've missed visiting flower shows this year due to Covid. Hi Bee, your artichokes sound amazing.Ive just had a look at my sunflowers and some kind of but has eaten all the leaves and the bud from the centre since yesterday so no flower this year I guess. I enjoyed gardeners world, think Monty is having couple of weeks off,I enjoy watching Allan frost is it? His cat makes me laugh how he always pop's up on the potting bench when the camera is on him. Hi Bee, thanks for your message.Its been quite cool and windy here today,not pleasant walking weather as you had. I remember seeing cerne giant on hillside,isn't there also a white horse in that area. I had hair cut and coloured today,feel human again now. Hi,Rob, lovely to hear your memories of Walsall.The lady you mentioned on the sweet stall used to teach my mom piano lessons.Walsall has changed a great deal now and a lot of the town centre pubs have closed now.The arboretum has recently enjoyed a much needed facelift and has a new cafe by the boat lake.My mom used to walk up the steep hill by Saint Matthews to work at stammers factory when she was 14, Happy days.Take care from Ann

Hi Pat,well your life in Cyprus sounds idyllic.I can't believe that your council tax of 100 euros,we pay £160 per month and we are in a small town house.Ive heard people say that the locals around Paphos go into the Troops mountains to escape the intense heat their in August.We have been on keep safaris in those mountains,it was stunning when the almond blossom was out at the end of february.we also liked to visit the Kykos monastery it's so peaceful their. My mom's family in this Birchills were named Brown and my grand side were Webb, she had a brother in Raleigh street.My grandad was born in Charles Street.Its interesting tracing your family tree and belonging to the history society. I belonged to Walsall U3A group for a while,I joined the gardening group but they lost their venue for meetings when the council decided to demolish the building and sell the ground for housing, after that the group dissolved sadly.Ive since joined a floristry group in Park Hall which I enjoy. My mom worked in the leather trade many years there's not much of it left now sadly.The Birchills has completely changed now to how it was.My mom's aunt who never married was a Sunday school teacher at the mission near the navigation.My mom used to play on the coal barges near their in her Sunday best when she came out of Sunday school much to her mother's annoyance.
