p.s I have just updated this feature on Podcasts - https://www.silversurfers.com/best-of-the-web/culture-best-of-the-web/podcasts-and-radio-shows-to-inspire-learning/ Have you ever listened to one? 🙂
I guess having a son who's birthday fell just before each loss has helped because we made a big deal of it for him by laughing and joking, he is 18 today. Each year that one of my children reached 16 and 18 a family member has died so my son has been anxious and although it is in bad taste we have teased him that this pandemic is his fault. I know humour does not help everyone through difficult times but it does ease it for me, Each day I remind myself that I have my kids and my grandchildren still with me and the love ones I have lost are now pain-free.
I am only 52 lol, I lost a sister aged 50 and my twin was 51 so my eldest daughter set me a challenge to get to 53 in July to break the cycle. I am sure she will direct me to keep going after that too 🙂
If you or anyone else needs someone to talk to I am a good listener but I do talk a lot lol. Take care of yourself and keep your chin up 😀
Sally 🙂
Having shown my appreciation by clapping for the NHS staff.I would like to also show appreciation for fellow silversurfers who are helping their elderly neighbours as they aren.t exactly youngters themselves.
It is extremely frustrating not to be able to help as a mild asthmatic aged 68 my daughter has banned me from going to the shops .Of course I am grateful to have family nearby.
I have been logging on to silver surfers far more frequently and thankyou and your team for keeping the chat going it really does provide a sense of community
Stay safe and well ecarg 🙂
I have rediscovered the pleasure of walking even around the block but yesterday I went into the woods near my estate and .I saw two couples but even better than that I saw a red squirrel which I used to see fairly frequently before I moved into town .I felt rewareded for my efforts
Looking for people to chat to in these weird times
I hope you enjoy being part of our community.

In the end I sent an E Mail as I wanted a record of the date it went faulty as it is still under guarantee
until June. I can expect a response in the next 6 days. Whilst this is a minor inconvience as it is semi useable it has been good to have a mini rant rather than shout at the cat who like myself is getting to old to tolerate this change of personality.
If anyone knows why my screen is covered in multi coloured lines and 2 50p size black blobs I would love to hear from you Thankyou.
We have the same problem as in England here with people being greedy, especially with buying toilet rolls and not all the foodstuffs you want can you find. My husband just told me that in the south of the country where the town of Baarle Nassau is divided between Holland and Belgium the shops on the Belgian side are closed and the ones on the Dutch side are open - where is the logic here!!!
I had to go out this morning to get my blood checked and was the first patient as wanted to avoid 'the rush' later.
Lovely sunny weather here but with a cold wind.
We have satellite t.v. so watch all the English programmes, which is a delight to me.
love to hear from people as miss the English chat and sense of humour!
Please all take care.
and glad you are able to watch some English TV. There are lots of topics you can join in on our Speakers Corner https://www.silversurfers.com/speakers-corner/
The weather has been good for the past few days which has allowed me to get out in the garden. I love this time of the year when the spring flowers are beginning to bloom. If the good weather continues I plan to paint the garden fence, but I think colder weather is on the way
Keep well during this difficult time.
I agree SilverBlue and evidently real soap and water is better for the environment (instead of using the liquid soap in plastic bottles) and is more efficient than hand sanitiser, although I keep a little bottle of that in the car for my hands when I have touched anything outside.
some smell left when you use the soap.!!
Keep safe
Sue
I hope you enjoy being part of our community.
Best wishes

Now you know of someone who has had the virus. I am just about out of quarantine and am feeling absolutely fine. I was very lucky to have mild symptoms. So now, like you, I am starting to feel cabin fever. I was so looking forward to being able to get out again.

I hope you are keeping well in these difficult times. Regards, Wilf

I am self isolating I am one less person on the street, one more person to help protect our wonderful NHS.
I will miss being able to see my son, daughter-in-law and my three grandsons, the youngest one just over a week old.... but we can FaceTime, Skype etc so at least we can see each other on the screen.
My main and biggest concern is for my daughter, she works for the NHS on a respiratory ward and will be part of a front line team ... she is passionate about her job and I am so proud of her . I am praying she stays safe .
It’s been good to talk
I hope your daughter stays well and that you enjoy being part of our community during these difficult times and beyond.
