Would you support the ban of cat ownership in some parts of Scotland?I think this would only apply to areas where they are trying to protect the population of the Scottish Wild CatViewDate:

Should drivers over 70 re-take their driving test?Yes to eye and cognitive test. If an upper age limit is imposed many would loss their independence especially in rural.areas with a lack of public transport .Taxis and on line shopping ,feeling isolated not a happy prospect for me.ViewDate:

Are you regularly caring for your grandchildren?I have previously looked after grandchildren whilst still working and since retiring. Agreement should be made on discipline and boundaries from the outset ,also agree hours. Recognise in yourself if you feel unable to continue due to whatever reason ,fitness level ,travelling etc It may cause inconvenience but do what's best for you and enjoy seeing your grand children when they visit.ViewDate:

BalancePut your happiness first There are lots of practicalities to arrange but putting things in place will give you positivity for the future It is possible to have an amicable separation (I've done it) you just need to communicate minus the emotional confratations Good wishes Tim A1ViewDate:

WellbiengWhite crow Please you are feeling better I also have an under active thyroid which initially was debilitating .However I also in the past have had depression .I just wanted to say they are not necessarily linked. Maybe an earlier visit to the G.P. for a blood test would have alliviated the depression soonerViewDate:

To chat or not to chat - do you like talking to your hairdresser? My hairdresser is a long term friend who now works from home for a few of her long term clients,so of course we chat. However as a retired support worker to support service users with autism to a silent salon would be an advantage .But surely it's simple for the hairstylist and the client, after the initial consultation to agree as to whether they are going to chat or not.Hopefully there's happy haircuts at the end.ViewDate:

Is modern technology really anti-social? Does it get in the way of real, old-fashioned conversation? What do you think and are your experiences.Just returning to Silver Surfers and reading through post from 10 yrs.ago to current I was wondering if we would add to the posts,do we still think they are current what has changed particularly regarding technology. I confess I know nothing about Artificial Intelligence Yesterday I heard that young children are starting to lose the ability to read and write due to their reliance on the use of a tablet. Scams are on the increase. The need for robust monitoring of the internet is urgent but I'm.happy to use technology to communicate.ViewDate:

Any Former carers?Hi I am a retired support worker who supported people with various special needs laterly autistic people .We also helped families to support their relatives Caring has many job descriptions but I think we all want the best lives possible for those we care for.Having to navigate social services ,and the health care system can be stressful. Any advice is welcome I'm sure to today's carers but I have been retired for 6yrs now.ViewDate:

Do you think that the speed limit should be reduced to 20mph on all urban roads? We have a 20 miles per hour speed limit throughout our. estate plus speed bumps It may have reduced speed but of course not all drivers adhere to it and.because there are no police around to enforce it people will continue to drive at a speed that suits them and not worry about any consequencesViewDate:

Is modern technology really anti-social? Does it get in the way of real, old-fashioned conversation? What do you think and are your experiences.I have returned to following this debate .I must say it's the most interesting thing I've read on Silver Surfers for a long time.Myself and my best friend from.Southampton both celebrated our 70th birthdays with her visiting me in Scotland My nephew and family visited from.Chhelmsford.During Lockdown I made a family archive scrapbook, well this was a source of great interest and amusement. After all.the celebrations I have my daughter a Thank you card. She said it wasn't necessary as everything was recorded on people's phone.I suggested that in twenty years. She might. not have the event on her phone but that she could keep.the card forever. So I've decided to ask.my elder granddaughter to help.me make a digitial.archive.I think this would be an excellent way for us techno dinasours to learn computer skills whilst our grandchildren would learn about their relatives past and present. I haven't asked her yet I'll text her I'm.more likely to get a response she might even speak to me on the phone LOLViewDate:

Is modern technology really anti-social? Does it get in the way of real, old-fashioned conversation? What do you think and are your experiences.Jean Mark As ever clarity and sense again. Being a member of the older generation I feel many of us are stuck in the past in some respects. Technology is progressing at a pace it's not a scary thing but takes time and a finances, so we cant escape remember when cash was not an option but the norm. My children were taught computer skills in the 80's and 90's. My grandchildren aged 12 and 4 ,times two are currently developing their skills The young ones have used a tablet for the last year .The 12 year old has been able to help me ,my daughter lacks patience but uses a computer most days as an Admission Officer. Whereas an electric typewriter was a cause of excitement for me.ViewDate:

Are you in favour of editing old programmes to fit in with today's society?Yesterday is history today is present tomorrow the future . We live in the present hope for the future and reflect on the past.. These programmes were made in the name of entertainment in their present.I hope those concerned have reflected and would not make the same progress now. Thus they have reflected and history has influced out society. In other words we live and learn.ViewDate:
