Just joined so I'm introducing myself.
Watch this postI will be 67 next month and retired from the many different jobs in my working life. I guess that I didn’t ever find my calling. I went to university at age 59 but when it was over it was too late to launch a new career. I wanted to lecture but students don’t want to listen to old fogies, so sadly I put aside that idea and settled into life as an eccentric dog owner.
I live in a beautiful Lancashire valley surrounded by hills that demand they be walked/climbed, how could I refuse?
I would like to do a bit of cycle touring but a recent diagnosis of spondylosis and some hip pain means that I may not be doing a world tour anytime soon!
I’m keen to make some friends as I have been on my own for a very long time now, my daughters don’t bother much with me and I don’t have a partner.I didn’t expect to be so isolated at this time in my life, isn’t it strange the way family and friends seem to forget us when we get past 60?
I will pop in regularly and hope to strike up some friendships.

I love most sports and am interested in world affairs and just want to share thoughts with others of my age group. I'm a fit 70, I swim regularly and walk Sam, my dog, twice a day. I love the walks on my local downs and keep meaning to study cloud structure! I am learning the piano which is very challenging and enjoyable. My career was in computer programming and I have 3 great children. Enough of me!
You hang in there and all will be good.

When I moved to a new area 4 years ago I began volunteering at a local charity shop, you'd be surprised at the number of people Who now recognise me and stop for a chat!
Welcome to the site. I can promise you that there is a light at the end of what may seem a very long tunnel. I've been on my own for 19 years and found that once I'd got over the first couple of years I picked up the pieces and went from strength to strength. It may not seem possible at the moment but I'm sure you will do the same!
I to like yoga and walking.
I am thinking about moving on. Crazy when i have a loving husband and a first grandchild on the way.
