Astronomic rise in car Insurance.

I am frothing at the mouth this morning, and it is due to the astronomic rise in car insurance with Churchill. My insurance has gone up by over £300 since last year. Why are we being ripped off is the question? I asked them why and they gave a kind of vague excuse. Is it a plot to price us out of driving?

My insurance went up from just over £400 to over £800 this year. A total rip off. No claims or accidents. I tried the usual checking with other firms, but the difference was minor and not worth changing. I had a professional bus licence up until just over a year ago, and only retired from bus driving at 75 years old. The only reason I can think of is that I passed my 76th birthday in that year, so maybe age had something to do with it.

Same here, if I didn't live in a very rural area, I would ditch my car altogether, Buses are as rare as hens teeth so, no alternative but to pay the eye watering £800.

They`re called quotemehappy. Probably rubbish in event of a claim, but it`s years since I`ve had to do that. My premium went from 159.25 last year to 148.46 this.

Thank you for replying Scruffles.
Never heard of quotemehappy, £148 46, is unbelievable! my insurance with Churchill went up from £365.00 last year to over £800 this year. I think cris1117 is right, shop around more.

Heard something interesting the other day, your car sends your driving habits to a central hub where the insurance companies collect your data and use that to guage what to charge you.
I must have been a very, very bad girl, speeding and dodging and committing all sorts of misdemeanours.

Meant to say £665 last year. I did have a small prang and claimed insurance, maybe that is why.

Mine actually went down this year without my having to shop around. No idea why!

That is good news for you I am sure. May I ask which company you use? They seem to be very fair.

If you stay with the same company each year they will rip you off, most do it in my experience,
I change my company every year and get a far better deal than I would have, as much as £300 sometimes.
I use three price comparison sites, its a pain filling in all the details but once you have done it and saved your details to your account it will use those saved details every year you just need to update any changes.
Same for house insurance, but you need a few comparison sites because one site doesn’t cover every insurance company.

Thanks for that cris1117, I wonder though, why insurance providers are allowed to inflate their prices to such an extent. Wouldn't it be better if we could stay with our providor and get a fair price, not all of us like to go hopping and shopping around for a fairer deal.
Once again, everything is rampantly out of control.

Unfortunately its now the way of the world, greed and grab.
A classic example is the water companies they pay themselves and the shareholders big bonuses and dump the sewage in the river, when they get fined they put the prices up, so who is paying the fines not the people responsible?
Auto renew is also a common tactic for over charging many people don’t even look at the renewal price which is mostly over inflated and far better deals are available, for me its not even about the money I just don’t like being ripped off.
I could go on about rip off Britain, I’m afraid the general public are either too dumb or too lazy to do anything about it.

Well I guess I am too dumb and lazy to go trawling around for something that should be honest and upfront in the beginning cris.
Time these greedy money -grubbers are brought into line with realistic price increases.
I think most of the increases are caused by electric cars, I will say no more.
