Astronomic rise in car Insurance. They`re called quotemehappy. Probably rubbish in event of a claim, but it`s years since I`ve had to do that. My premium went from 159.25 last year to 148.46 this.ViewDate:

"really" making new friends!if you "connect" with someone, you can always set up a Chat. Although most people don`t seem to know it`s there and often don`t reply, so don`t hold your breath.ViewDate:

"really" making new friends!yes, this forum is chaotic to say the least. I did write to the moderators once to suggest improvements, but was completely ignored. Next time I reply to anything tho`, I`ll double check the date, so thanks for that.ViewDate:

Yet another new arrivalWhereabouts in the US are you? (Those Blue Ridge mountains seem to stretch over a long distance.) If you ever decide to come to Wales, bring an umbrella. We do really good rain!ViewDate:

Hello,I found Le Carre a little dense (as in heavy going, not stupid!). Read "A Horseman Riding By" years ago. I think it may have been a required O`level or A`level text at the time. My own personal Nevil Shute offering would be "On the Beach" - very dark and depressing but....hey ho! I have read some AJ Cronin and CS Forester, although I wouldn`t describe them as my kind of authors. (And I confess to never having heard of Frank Tilsley) Since investing in a Kindle some ten years ago, I have been reading or rereading some "classics". "Great Expectations" is a delight. Dickens creates such wonderful characters and the book is just so darn funny in places. I read "Gone with the Wind" (nothing like the film) and tried "Dr Zhivago" but gave up as I got too confused by the fact that every character in the book has about four different names! Listened to "War and Peace" on audible - good cure for insomnia. But lest you think me a complete literary heavyweight, I should confess that my absolute favourite author of all time is .....Stephen King. People who haven`t read him think he just writes horror, but that`s too simplistic. He`s far more nuanced than that. "The Stand" would be my desert island book. Happy reading whatever your choices.ViewDate:

Help please on a marketing survey regarding which platform to use?I never use Facebook or Instagram, so it would have to be Google for me. Hope you get plenty of responses. Good luck with the new venture.ViewDate:

Greetings from Texas - [DELETED_MEMBER]Ah, Texas.... used to be one of our favourite places for a road trip vacation. Open spaces, friendly folks, beaches, some interesting tourist attractions and fantastic food. Particularly in those great San Antonio riverwalk restaurants! And not too many Brits (we tend to get everywhere these days, but we still got people asking "where yawl from?" in Texas) Some years since I was last there tho.....ViewDate:

Yet another new arrivalHello, Kisekka Mary, I`m waving back, look! I haven`t had much out of this site but, as with so many things in life, I think you get out what you put in and I haven`t made that much effort to interact. There are a lot of people on here looking for a travel companion, but, to be honest, I`d far rather travel alone than be stuck with someone with whom I may or may not get on.. I`m sure you`ll make plenty of new friends through your charity work and rambling club (if you find one) I fear that the various lockdowns during Covid have turned me into Mrs Misanthrope! Hey ho......ViewDate:

Yet another new arrivalHi Terry, thanks for the reply. I`m only half welsh too as my dad was english. Your idea of solo travelling is a lot braver than mine! My trips as a singleton have been a little more luxurious! Have you always travelled alone? I think it may be easier for men rather than women, or is that just a cop out?ViewDate:

Looking for a cruise companion - [DELETED_MEMBER]I confess that I don`t usually bother with solo accommodation. I just get a normal balcony cabin and pay the extra, although I appreciate that I`m fortunate in being able to afford this. There seem to be plenty of people on this site looking for cruise companions so you should be ok on that score. I wish you luck and a good holiday!ViewDate:

Looking for a cruise companion - [DELETED_MEMBER]Have you considered going on your own? I've done quite a few cruises "solo" since I lost my husband. Some cruise lines are better than others at this, (NCL are particularly good, Celebrity not so much although their food is incredible......sorry, I digress) I know paying extra is annoying, but it may be preferable to sharing with someone who might annoy you after a short while. Just a thought anyway.
