Double Dipping
Watch this postLast night we popped into our neighbours for a drink. They had put some humous and carrots and breadsticks out for us to enjoy ... and then to my horror, I saw the host dip his breadstick, take a bite, and then dip it again!!
Is it just me, or do you find double dipping repulsive? Fine if the food is just for you, but what about when it is to be shared by others??
My stomach just turned and I continued to enjoy my glass of wine, and declined the offer of the humous!

What was the person with the breadstick meant to do - throw it away half eaten, break off the end which had been by his mouth? How do we eat a buffet without double dipping? I see people lifting food and then replacing it - is this the same?
I think we have become over zealous and developed habits which are over picky. But I have begun cringing!!!!
Oh Friar's Balsom, I hated the smell when preparing inhalations for patients. Kaolin poultices, I used to get in a right mess trying to prepare them. As to Green soap enemas, always given to ladies going into labour as if they didn't have enough to contend with!
Lionel, I may not have experience of a cow 'depositing' on me but I can assure working in Infectious Diseases has its moments!
LittleMinx, I have little interest in Sci Fi, books or otherwise, I have enough problem trying to work out planet earth and its occupants without looking farther afield! I will watch a film but can rarely relate it to reality.
Maybe they suffer from Mysophobia, (or any of the other phobias) a pathological fear of contamination and germs?
You were brave taking on young mothers with limited vocabulary!
Lionel, I may not have been attacked from a dizzy height but I can assure you any height can be a surprise, particularly when deliberately thrown and LittleMinx, there isn't always time to duck!
Rant over.
Sometimes having the brown stuff thrown your way can be seen as good experience!
Asking a stranger to provide a full medical history going back twenty five years and signed by a doctor may put off a potential lover, that's if I had a mind to wander!
Having said that my wife will not drink out of a bottle of water that I or anyone else has even sipped. When having a shared meal she will put food on her plate before anyone starts (we are used to it) and only eats what is on her own plate. I have never really thought about it as she has always been like that but it is probably a reflection of the same fear of bacteria from other people.
Don't get me started on the anti-bacterial train, why are people so gullible? They won't take antibiotics for a genuine reason but are happy to spray every thing with a spray that kills 99.9% of known bacteria without recognising that as soon as they touch the surface it becomes contaminated. They complain about us 'oldies' living so long and then are amazed we were brought up with dirt without becoming ill!!
I don't subscribe to Black Friday as feel it is just one more thing we have inherited from our American cousins. But to be fair, I'm too tight to buy things I don't want just because someone has told me its a 'bargain'. Last year an American friend of mine pointed out that only in America would you have Black Friday and Thanksgiving in the same week!
