Do your pets get distressed by the sound of fireworks? One of my dogs gets incredibly anxious with fireworks even if they are in the distance. Last night they exploding far away and we could barely hear them but he could. He was barking and howling until they stopped, although he isn't phased at all by loud bangs on the TV. I think my older dog is hard of hearing now, as he didn't notice the distant ones, but I know next weekend when the local display is on they will both be very agitated. We have to stay in and try to calm them down ... I have grown to dread fireworks now!ViewDate:

Are parenting Apps and algorithms replacing mother's instinct? From my experience of being a grandma, I am very much aware of how much my daughters have used these apps. I have witnessed signs of tiredness in a baby such as eye rubbing because the app says it's not nap time! Constant logging of feeds, nappy changes and sleep mean that the mobile phone is always present and being viewed and checked and relied upon! I have even been asked to download the same app when I am babysitting. And don't get me started on White Noise! I compare notes with my friends who are also grandmas and we all feel the same. Babies are not algorithms... they are individuals... but what do we know? Our experience counts for nothing!ViewDate:

Does your dog sleep in your bed?Absolutely not! I have two very big dogs, and whilst they come up on the sofa for cuddles on a special throw I put down, they are not allowed in my bed! I am sure they would love an invite but they will be waiting a very long time to get one from me!ViewDate:

Is your decision to vote influenced by watching General Election TV debates?I personally don't enjoy watching these debates - there is a lot of shouting and talking over each other, and even if I did watch, it would not influence my vote. I didn't watch it last night, and I think I read the next one has even more politicians appearing so I won't be watching that one eitherViewDate:

Would you support mandatory National Service for 18-year-olds?This idea seems like a bolt out of the blue - I was so surprised when I heard this on the news earlier - not sure which of the voters this is meant to be aimed at! I think the idea of National Service is a good one, but not sure it should be compulsory though.ViewDate:

Are you particular about loading your dishwasher? My husband needs a little reminder every now and again! I have recently found him stacking dirty cups on top of dirty cups! I am very happy that he chooses to unload the dishwasher but I do question his eyesight sometimes, when I find porrige smears on clean spoons!ViewDate:

Is it ever ok to buy an item of clothing, leave the price tag on, wear it once and return it?This is totally outrageous and very dishonest. I would like to think that none of my daughters would do this.ViewDate:

Is it ever ok to buy an item of clothing, leave the price tag on, wear it once and return it?I also saw this on TV yesterday - I was quite shocked how both Susanna and Lorraine thought it was amusing - I think it is totally outrageous! It seems like theft to me and totally deceitful. I don't understand how the younger generation think this is an honest way to behave.ViewDate:

Do you think money skills should be taught in school?Yes, I think children should be leaving education knowing how to manage money but also to be taught what it means to be a financially independent adult in their later life - I have always been a bit apprehensive when it comes to financial planning and I think that if it was introduced at a young age, the fear factor would be less likely.ViewDate:

Is there now too much information for expectant mothers to evaluate?Yes, I think that expectant mothers are totally overloaded with information, sometimes conflicting, it's no wonder they get stressed and anxious. One of my own daughters seemed more influenced by advice from Instagram rather than first hand knowledge from me! I think that mother's instinct is vital. I am not sure why so much seems to have changed in 30 years but apparently it has! In my day, we had one book and a mother to point us in the right direction!ViewDate:

Do you think XL Bully dogs should be banned?I know there are many people saying that the owners of these dogs are the cause of this issue - however, recently a young dog walker in Surrey was killed by her own dog 'An American Bully XL owned by a dog walker killed in Caterham at the start of the year has been put down, police have confirmed. The update comes as the force said it received a forensic veterinary report following the tragic death of 28-year-old Natasha Johnston.' Also, I live in a small village, and about 3 weeks ago, my friend's dog was savaged by a local dog owned by a resident in the village - not your typical stereotype Bully XL owner at all, and neither was the young girl in Caterham - I feel these dogs have a genetic disposition to be attack dogs in certain circumstances, much like my dog has a genetic disposition to chase deers and squirrels! I think these dogs should be muzzled when out in public immediately until further investigations have been done.ViewDate:

Shoplifting on the Rise: Should We Report It or Ignore It?I was quite shocked yesterday when I went into my local Boots shop yesterday to buy a lipstick - the entire sidewall where all the make-up is displayed was behind locked glass doors, so you are now no longer able to touch or select any products without calling a member of staff to open the doors and get the item for you! I have also seen security tags on cheese in a local Tesco - what a sad sign of the times :(ViewDate:

Do you support the new expansion of the ULEZ in London?I think this is a very unfair expansion - largely impacting those with less money - for example, a friend of mine will no longer be able to shop in Aldi as it is now in the Ulez and her car is not compliant - she can't afford to replace her car :( And how does it make sense that Heathrow is now in the new Ulez, but polluting aircraft aren't penalsied - think Sadiq Khan has made a huge mistake!ViewDate:

Do you still use your cookbooks or have you shifted to online recipes?Even though I have a whole cupboard filled with cookbooks, increasingly I find myself Googling a recipe I know I might possibly have in a book, and then using my phone to read the recipe - one exception is my old faithful Delia Smith cookbook which I always refer to for basic recipes like crumble quantities or pastry etc.ViewDate:

Should we encourage children to identify as cats and other animals?I have read about this in the paper this week with total disbelief. We seem to have now been forced into a situation where people in authority such as teachers face losing their job if they are deemed to be saying the wrong thing. Children can't be addressed as girls or boys in class and have to be addressed in a non-binary fashion incase they offend the minority. And now this! In what world is it ok to have a 16 year old pupil at school being accepted as and being addressed as a cat?? In my day we had to wear regulation school shoes, and there was a strict code of dress and conduct - we had to conform. Whatever next? Soldiers in the army identifying as lions?? We need to stop this nonsense right now! Let the grown ups make the rules - not the children!ViewDate:

Do you give your dog a raw food diet?Whilst I like the idea of feeding my dogs a raw food diet, and I know a lot of people that do and recommend it, I still give them dried kibble. I do wonder if kibble is like the ultra processed food that humans are being told to avoid and sometimes feel guilty that they deserve better, but then I seem them eating horse poop and drinking from muddy puddles and keep doing what I'm doing!ViewDate:

Should we be worried about Artificial Intelligence?I am really worried about the impact that AI will have in the future and not too far away either - you only have to look at the Terminator movie and see what happens when machines become more intelligent than humans - their are so many evil men in the world that are power hungry I feel sure if it gets into the wrong hands we will be in danger - I saw a scientist on breakfast TV last week and he was saying that global nations need to work together to protect us - and he said 'look how many years it has taken for global nations to come together on climate change' - we are doomed!ViewDate:

Should assisted dying be legalised in the UK?This is something I feel very strongly about - I watched my mum suffer at the end of her life a few years ago, when the outcome was certain. And in the last couple of weeks I have watch my father-in-law be treated in hospital for 3 whole weeks, when at 93 with multiple organ failure, we all knew what the outcome was going to be, and we had to watch him suffer each day until the end. I know it is controversial but when there is no doubt that a life will end due to terminal illness or fragility and organ failure the patient or family should be allowed to make an informed choice to end that life, painlessly and with dignityViewDate:

Will you be watching the World Cup?I am not really a footie fan, so I probably won't be watching ... Do you support the Royal Mail reducing deliveries to week days only?I think the Royal Mail are now in a very tricky position - there has been a rapid decline in snail mail as we are all so reliant on email now and many bills that use to be mailed are now views online as we have gone paperless. Much of what I receive in the post is unwanted pamphlets from clothing companies and letters from the hospital. The only mail I happily receive is birthday and Christmas cards cards once a year. Even Wedding invitations seem to have gone paperless. I feel that couriers have replaced the royal mail and on the days they have striked in recent weeks, has impacted my lovely Postie more as not only has he not got paid on those days, he has had to catch up on the delayed letters so has twice as much to deliver. Don't think no post on a Saturday will impact me really.ViewDate:

Have you witnessed raw sewage on UK beaches this summer?Croyde Beach and Saunton Sands are well known for having a sewage issue - been going there for years and the number of times we've had tummy upsets - a family friend is there camping this week and she has been ill all week, and last year in the same location her young daughter was very poorly with a vomiting episode. I can't believe that in this day and age, raw sewage is emptied into our sea!ViewDate:

Should the humble Ploughman's lunch become gender neutral?I love a Ploughman's lunch - something very earthy and traditional about it - take me back to my youth. Not even sure that 'Ploughperson's' features in the the Oxford dictionary does it? Maybe the pub needed a boost and thought this would cause a fuss and some publicity which it has obviously done. I would prefer to keep the name as it has always been or call it something like - 'Rustic Cheese and Bread platter' -
