I,ve found that as well, and tend to find that if you are prepared to spend a bit of time online and alter your timetable slightly there are bargains out there to be had, especially nice hotels at good prices, but i,m in process of looking at couchsurfing i would be well up for that(i think),i,m ok with roughing it a bit, they say its character building,if i can do it online anyone can,i am rubbish on the computer but even i can get flights etc,do you fancy Italy/Sardinia about May someone else on this forum says she may be interested, let me know what you think, where would you like to see?
Response from smudger15 made on 8th Dec 2015 14:01:17
Id be interested, but its everyones locale that could be the issue. Im in Leicester.
Response from smudger15 made on 9th Dec 2015 17:48:38
good old pompey. I spent many satudays at fratton park with a pint or two in the Artillery Arms before the match.
Response from JAMES58 made on 9th Dec 2015 21:33:07
You will probably struggle to get people from your own area to allwant to go same place, same time of year, from same airport, if interested in Italy/Sardinia you would be better meeting at Rome airport as this would be the common denominator for 90% of people from UK,,,,,,,? James

Also we enjoy different types of holidays..I do often travel alone but it isn't as much fun. Am i being realistic? comments welcomed...

Hi, thanks for your reply. In contact with somebody right now regarding a couple of months travel in South America for Jan/Feb or Feb/March. Nobody else for the short breaks. Would you be happy to visit Croatia again and was once enough ? I am open to more or less anywhere for short breaks throughout the year and the more the merrier but also happy to just go with one other person. Normally travel alone but not as much fun as having company. If you have any thoughts about where you'd like to go please let me know. Love the sound of Montenegro.

looking for someone who would like to travel long haul either organised touring or cruises.
Response from HOLLYMAN made on 8th Sep 2015 10:56:04
Good to hear from you. Sorry our present group is for self organised touring but not cruises. We have made many trips down under being mainly to NZ mainly for walking or tramping as they call it. Also round the world five times. I have been to OZ and NZ some sixteen times with from one to four companions of both sexes mainly on a four to six week trip. These found from being a member of uk walking clubs and two websites, one for companions to travel with and the other for retired backpackers. One of those is now defunct and the other hoping to survive. Our recent week in the Isle of man makes for a change for and we have visited Islands in Europe such as the Azores, Madeira, Fuerteventura, the channel islands.
Currently there are plans to have a weekend at Arundel next month to socialise and do some short walks. Any silversurfers are welcome to come along.

Response from maz70 made on 13th Oct 2015 16:43:53
Hi I am 70, you sound a fun type, so am I , I love socialising. Cruising is my passion, I just want someone to accompany me to avoid the massive single suppliment. Contact me if interested, I fancy South America, Far East, or anywhere that I've not been before. I am fit and adventurous, non smoker.
Response from travellight made on 20th Oct 2015 14:50:50
Hi, I also loathe the cold dreary winters and love to get away. I have done a fair bit of travelling, Europe, Thailand, Cambodia, States and several other places and now have a thing about seeing more of South America. Fancy seeing Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua etc. I like renting an apartment and sharing rather than hotels but don't mind either,. Free to travel. Also would like to do a few 4-5 day city breaks throughout the year, mainly Budapest, Prague, Croatia. If interested please let me know by reply, thanks.

Hi I'm Ray,I'm told that my recent post should have been here ! I'm hoping to find fellow wildlife enthusiasts who might consider partnering me on such trips to avoid the extra costs on accommodation, guides, vehicles etc, that often accompany the solo traveller.

Any other info' on specific sites that might be useful appreciated !

Hi there. I'm 67, female, and looking for a travel companion/s to go on a cruise in January. I'm easy going - not a 'deep thinker' 🙂 and the cruise would have to be in a budget. I have been on quite a few wonderful cruises before, mainly to the Caribbean, but my traveling companion is no more. Thanks. Pat

I am looking for a cruise companion. My husband can't cruise. I'm a Yorkshire lass, who loves socialising. My favourite destinations would be, Far East, Malaysia , Cambodia, to see Angkor watt, Indonesia, etc , or South america., but open to suggestions.

Response from maz70 made on 25th Oct 2015 14:00:49
HichrisSM, there are so many bargains going at the moment, I would like to go January if possible. I would like to go to either South America, for machu Pichu and izaguana falls or Far East , Thailand , Cambodia, Malaysia , but I am flexible and open to suggestions. Ideally I would like to go for at least three weeks. If possible if a azamarra cruise came up for a shorter duration at the right price, I would like to do that, as the ships are smaller, and offer better service and A.I. Drinks as well. Let me know your preferences. Maz 70

I am planning for 2016, either a quiet Greek Island or California to revisit Disneyland and Knotts Berry among other places and hoping to find a companion or several, I have visited many Greek Islands over the years and been to California twice. If you are out there and would like to discuss the possibilities my e mail is [email protected].
I am almost civilised and house trained and live in West London.
Response from smudger15 made on 13th Oct 2015 07:24:21
That all sounds nice Willie. Ive quite often fancied staying in something like a greek taverna sipping a glass of vino and watching the world go by, especially when it freezing over here. Im in Leicester. Never been to California, but would love a tour on the west coast, loved disney in florida too, not been since 2000 so I bet its changed a lot.
Response from Willie made on 13th Oct 2015 13:32:45
Hi Smudger, Greece IS the place for sitting and sipping I have been going there since 1970, trouble is its getting harder to find Greece now some of the islands are like Blackpool with sunshine and that's not for me.

I have never been to Florida, it has to be California because its got Knotts Berry and Santa Monica.

Regards
Willie
Response from smudger15 made on 13th Oct 2015 19:44:56
well keep me informed if you find a nice greek island and a taverna. I was looking at a tour of the west coast. Yosemite, monteray and las vegas as well as san fransico too.
Response from Willie made on 14th Oct 2015 13:50:00
I was'nt planning a touring holiday to the states, I hav'nt done Yosemite or Vegas but have driven down from Frisco to Santa Monica a couple of times, try to spend a night in San Luis Obisbo at the Madonna Inn you gotta see it to believe it.
Response from smudger15 made on 14th Oct 2015 17:14:46
If I go Willie i keep it in mind, it wont be til Nov 2016 though. But you've got me hooked on the Greece hol when we get the warmer weather over there.
Response from Willie made on 14th Oct 2015 17:27:53
Thinking of going around end of may early june temp is just right then, go in Aug its up to 35 /40 and the wine dosnt get cold enough, be good to get a small 4/6 group to go

Response from smudger15 made on 19th Oct 2015 16:21:49
keep me away from big and noisey, those days are over! ideally, for greece, a small hotel or guest house, walk to the local, a pool or the sea. sit and watch the world go buy or read a book
