I am female,69 years old and newly widowed. I love traveling but I would not fancy going by myself apart from the single supplements. I live in the North East and would love to travel in the Uk and Europe. Maybe for a weekend to start with. I am fit and active love walking (up to five miles) and generally exploring. I am not really into beach holidays. I would love a likeminded companion.
Response from Fflorielle made on 6th Jun 2016 08:07:23
I am also from the North East Sandy I would love to meet up with you Perhaps Newcastle or Sunderland, Perhaps a City visit would be a good start but we could meet to discus it, I enjoyed a visit to Prague last year.

I am looking for a companion for a holiday this summer and/or during Christmas time. I am interested to be together and have someone to share impressions/like/dislikes and enjoy dinners, visits to galleries/museums etc and not to travel together in order to share the costs! I like relaxing by the sea as well as visiting places and have in mind Barcelona for Europe, and/or a nice Greek beach and/or a cruse to Hawaii and not only.....

I am planning to travel to northern India for 10 days from 13-23 October 2016, to visit the Golden Triangle area, starting and finishing in New Delhi. October is a particularly comfortable time to visit northern India.
I am not a fan of large tours or coach tours, so my son, who is a travel professional, has arranged a fantastic luxury private bespoke itinerary for me, staying in 5 star hotels, flying between cities where possible (met at the airports), and with a comfortable and spacious Toyota Innova 7-seater people mover vehicle with professional English speaking driver/guide anytime a vehicle is required.
The itinerary spends 2 nights in New Delhi, before flying to Varanasi (holy city on Ganges river), then flying to Agra (Taj Mahal) for 2 nights. We then drive to Ranthambore National Park, where we stay for 2 nights on wildlife safari hoping to view tigers in the wild. From Ranthambore we drive into the desert province of Rajasthan to the city of Jaipur for 2 nights. (famous for spectacular forts and fascinating bazaars). Then back to Delhi to finish.
The itinerary is fantastic, and very well priced. It will include all accommodation in 5 star hotels, buffet breakfast every morning except in Ranthambore where the itinerary includes all meals. The itinerary has lots of great inclusions.
Now I am looking for one or two (max) senior travel companions who are well travelled and active and interested to accompany me for this 10 day travel.
Please contact me if you are interested or know someone who might be.

Hello have just seen your post, India is on my bucket list and I do like to do things in style, sounds like a bit of an adventure. How much will it be approximately and do you know the flight prices?

Looking to find female travelling companion (non-smoker) to share costs for fly / cruise around Alaska, North America, Australia, New Zealand and many more amazing places. My profile says more about me. I'm interested to hear of new ideas for travels I haven't considered yet. You'll have a great sense of humour like me, enjoy good conversation and hopefully and generally enjoy people as much as I do. I'm not looking for a relationship - simply a fun traveller like myself. Do contact me if you'd like to know more..

I did try and ask if anyone would like to meet up for a weekend away in UK to see how we got on before committing a week or two away with a stranger. There was very little response. I do have two double B&B rooms and space for a couple of camper vans or even tents; no facilities outside other than a tap though. This isn't a commercial message, apart from the two bedrooms, but a get together type idea. What does anyone think, I'm in Wisbech area, Cambridgeshire?

Just joined and it looks an interesting group. I love to travel and visit places of interest, not into rock climbing type holidays etc, and although I have travelled alone, Kenya, USA and more like many people I hate dining alone. It is much nicer to share trips with others. I have arranged to go to Bulgaria but it is with an organized singles holiday company and they do cost a lot more. So prefer to do my own thing.
Response from JAMES58 made on 26th Feb 2016 02:49:21
Kim have a look at some of my posts on this dicussion,i never do organised travel,,,there great deals to be had if you look hard enough,,,,
Response from Willie made on 19th Mar 2016 17:13:15
Hi Kim I am hoping to go to Leros (a very small Greek Island) at the end of May and like you I hate dining alone.
Willie
Response from davidhat33 made on 3rd Apr 2016 02:53:30
So true about the organised singles tours. There's got to be the singles' supplement in there for the hotel at least - how they can justify this amazes me! Still the same amount of bed linen and towels! More water used by 2 perhaps? Then there are all the little bits of commission along the way for the tour company, the guides used by them to really do any excursions etc. Plus the kick back the singles company get from the hotels and restaurants used.
I tend to do lots of research beforehand -ask friends and even complete strangers you have happened to speak to from the area / country you want to go for their recommendations / ideas of places they would go to back home. You can then book the cheap flight at a time and airport to suit you, and contact the hotels / use travelgo etc.

I understand that you've booked Bulgaria. If not I would suggest that neighbouring Romania is worth a visit while you're in the area. Perhaps next time. Keith

Is anybody out there who could be my travel partner?

I retired at 50 and now travel the world using 'home exchanging'. My wife has found travelling 11 months out of 12 for the past 7 years 'a bit too much' so l am now looking for a travel companion(s) who want to explore the world. My next big trip travelling solo is to Shanghai (China) from 1st December 2015 until 31st January 2016 (inclusive). I am looking for a like minded travel companion.

Hi There,
sounds amazing! but unfortunately would not have that kind off money available. So good luck and hope you find some very lucky people on this site that would be in a position to take up your offer.

I retired at 50 too, nearly 8 years now (best thing I ever did). Id love to travel far and wide, but I have a dog and two months would be way to long to be apart.

I would be looking to travel in August September time 2016, coach tour as if i don't find a travel companion who loves Italy, will brave it on my own, separate rooms and pay our own way extra, Looking to meet up with people in the Staffordshire area, Love to go to Tuscany as love the food, wine music, and history, anybody interested.
Response from KEITH_WL made on 21st May 2016 22:44:01
Interested to know your ideas. I do like Italy - for Pete's sake I'm an opera lover - but my primary interest at present is in visiting the Baltic republics.

A comment: I'm new on the site, the user interface puzzles me sometimes, but already I have the impression that responses to questions are not forthcoming.

Personally I believe that communication is part of the purpose of this exercise. Even if we don't arrange a travel project then talking about plans is worthwhile.

Hi. Just joined today. Not sure how to use this forum. But I'll try.

I'm a retired American who loves to travel more than my wife does, and in ways and to places she'd never dream of going.

I have always wanted to ride the Trans-Siberian express, and I'd even love to be able to say I went from London to Hong Kong by train. Needless to say she won't go along and there's no way she'd ever let me go alone either. I'm too old and too diabetic for that and she's right!

So, as preposterous as the idea is, I'd still like to keep it on my bucket list a while, while I see if there's anyone out there here who'd even remotely contemplate something along these lines. Say late summer 2016.
Response from Clale made on 4th Jan 2016 09:55:15
Hi dadonatrain,
I read your profile and I found it interesting, I'm a women in my 60' and my husband doesn't like to travel, I'm Swiss-Italian, and live between Italy and England. It's funny because just today I was thinking that a trip with the Trans-Siberian train would be a great adventure, and as soon as I opened the internet, I found your post, so I thought "this could be destiny!!".
To be honest, I was looking for a female companion, but given that our interests are so similar (classical music, opera, arts and history), I was tempted to write to you, one never knows!
If you are interested let me know.
kind regards
Claudia

By the way I speak Russian though am a bit out or practice.
