Restless legs

Hi anyone who can give me any tips on coping with restless legs at night, spoke to Dr arranged a blood test but that's not till next week I want some relief now.

I never realised how terrible this is, not much sleep for 4 nights now.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

The only time I suffered with this is when I was prescribed statins I had lots of weird things happening and this was one.
After about a year on statins I was in a terrible state with many different problems, which completely stumped my G.P.
One day I had a terrible tooth acre which seemed to be coming from all my teeth when I visited my dentist and told him about all my problems he simple said are you taking statins.
I stopped taking statins within a month all the problems I was having disappeared.

Hey. I am in health care. You might be lacking vitamins B or D. Get some standard blood tests done. You can also drink a few bottles of bitter lemon as it contains quinine. Do some simple leg exercises and calf exercise - you can do these sitting down. Stretch your foot up towards you then down again, hold then repeat; try 10 or 20 times each leg. That gets the blood and lymph fluid pumping. Try walking around as much as you can. Hope this helps! Cheers

I suffer from RLS and take magnesium (500mg) daily.
It doesn't take away the RLS completely but if I miss a dose I notice it.
If I get an attack during the night and nothing else works, I find taking 400mg of Ibuprofen does help to subdue the twitching enough for me to go back to sleep.

I also find that the restlessness is worse after consuming alcohol, especially gin!

I also suffer from RLS apart from multi vitamins ( found Centrum very good ) but doesn't eradicate it, I read somewhere about tendon stretching so tried it, and happily it's not a problem anymore and it's quite easy to do. On tip toe walk around and up and down the stairs a couple of times, should you have an attack night time in bed , get out and elevate to tip toe a few times until the tightness goes, I hope it works well for you as it has for me, it's made life so much easier. Kind Regards.

Thanks Snowie, I've been in touch with the Dr again today and she has given me some tablets, so here's hoping they work, I will think about Magnesium also.
