Newboy
Watch this postHello Everyone!
Very much new to all this but am fascinated too. Widowed 7 years ago found it very difficult to begin with but as everyone knows it does get easier, we should all just treasure the memories I think. If it’s any help I found having projects: large or small helped considerably, I am fortunate I live out in the sticks in a house I built myself so am well equipped to get stuck into a new idea! Latest is constructing or adapting bird feeders .. next? Constructing bird nesting boxes then onto something much larger perhaps. I have built and flown several two-seater aircraft in the past so my message to everyone feeling a bit lonely is just go for it you will be amazed at what you can achieve it only takes the first step.
I hope I can make friends on this site it seems a very friendly one from what I have read so far and I hope I can contribute in future topics
All the best Tezz

I’ve been a member for a few days and have found lots of people to “chat” to already, and received some good advice too.
Having been widowed only recently, (2017) I am still finding it difficult, but reading your post is very encouraging.
I have joined a local Creative Writing group, which has been great for socialising but also very therapeutic. I might post a few pieces in the Showcase section and get some feedback!
So impressed that you built your own house, that’s amazing!
Your projects seem to range from the amazing (building aircraft and your own house) to very practical and useful bird nesting boxes.
You are right about things getting gradually easier after we have lost a loved one - the first year is the worst with all the "firsts" without your dearest spouse, parent, sibling etc; birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, Christmas pass in a miserable haze but then as the years go on you start to remember all the good times and can store those memories for when sadness threatens to overwhelm you.
Good luck with navigating round the site! 🙂
Just waiting for the door hinges to arrive ... for some reason these pesky birds want doors that open! Then a final coat of preservative and they can inspect their new homes .. I declined a suggestion by a Mr S Hawk to include a balcony on the Mark III as I think his motives are suspicious . I will post pics so you can see how they evolved soon

I hope you realise that your pernickety feathered friends only want doors that open so that you can go in and clear up after them when they have finished nesting 🙂 Think you are definitely right to be dubious about Mr S Hawk's motives for wanting a balcony - I suppose he might just want to watch the (lady) birds but more likely he would swoop with claws outstretched.
Hope you have a good weekend - I was hoping to watch the rugby (England v Wales) but have been invited to a retirement party 🙂

I'm looking forward to exploring your site. I love to travel abroad and in the UK, National Trust places etc. I love history, reading, film and art.
I'm sure I will find lots of things to interest me.
Cheers!
