Just joined so I'm introducing myself.
Watch this postI will be 67 next month and retired from the many different jobs in my working life. I guess that I didn’t ever find my calling. I went to university at age 59 but when it was over it was too late to launch a new career. I wanted to lecture but students don’t want to listen to old fogies, so sadly I put aside that idea and settled into life as an eccentric dog owner.
I live in a beautiful Lancashire valley surrounded by hills that demand they be walked/climbed, how could I refuse?
I would like to do a bit of cycle touring but a recent diagnosis of spondylosis and some hip pain means that I may not be doing a world tour anytime soon!
I’m keen to make some friends as I have been on my own for a very long time now, my daughters don’t bother much with me and I don’t have a partner.I didn’t expect to be so isolated at this time in my life, isn’t it strange the way family and friends seem to forget us when we get past 60?
I will pop in regularly and hope to strike up some friendships.

I'm tentatively dipping my toe in here! I've been, sadly, widowed for 7 years and have, finally, reinvented myself in the ways of single living again,
I learned to drive and passed my test 5 years ago and still work full time.
I'm still getting to grips with this adultlng lark and am looking forward to chatting on here with new friends who are approaching the 'silver year's with irreverence!
Welcome to....all of us ....a friendly chatty crowd. Until you've experienced losing a partner.., you don't know how blessed you are to have one. However, many of us are in the same 'boat', & I'm sure you will make friends on here.
Kind regards
Just joined tonight. To be honest find it very confusing understanding it all
I am a just 69 year old divorcee. I think it is wonderful going to uni at 59. I went back to college in my 40s to enable me to get out of a controlling marriage after being at home with 3 children. You must have felt so good, even though you say you didn’t feel valued. I do so agree with your re our children. I feel used to be honest and if I had my time again I would be more selfish, instead of putting them first. What did you get a degree in? However the, outcome you did it for you. I have thought about the open university but I don’t think I could get into the routine of study.
I live near the downs in Eastbourne. I would love to hve someone to chat to. I get very lonely. I try to keep myself occupied with current affairs, reading, crosswords etc, it miss being me. Being valued. I don’t know if that makes sense. I feel used, but not wanted.
I have just joined too and didn't notice the blue triangle. I think we will all feel less lonely on here.
Kind regards,
Wendy
