So pleased to read you're now happy and that you have another dog. The pain of losing a pet is unbearable but to give another one a good home is sheer pleasure for both. Unfortunately I am somewhat disabled so walking is a problem which restricts quite a lot. I have done my utmost to find friends even joining clubs but found people extremely cliquey as where I live is very quiet and the community keep themselves to themselves having lived here for many years. Many years' ago I bred dogs. First, the English Setter then the Alsatian such happy times with puppies bounding out in the morning to be fed. I now only have a cat but love her bits. She's old like her mum but we're company for each other. My daughter desperately wanted me to move closer but see little of her as she has a life of her own which I understand. I wish we had both given it more thought before I moved. Thank you so much for replying.
I moved to the coast nearly 2 years ago after splitting from my husband. during the first six months it was ok but then my dog passed away and the loneliness of missing her and my friends and family really hit me. I decided I could either sit in my gorgeous bungalow and be lonely or enjoy the life I moved away for.
I joined a local walking group who do walks most days. I volunteer at a local cafe on a Monday, Tuesday I go Nordic walking, Wednesday and Friday I play badminton, Saturday or Sunday I go walking and more importantly I have a new little rescue dog in my life who has enabled me to talk to lots of local people, some who now meet up and we go for walks on the beach together. We’re also going to try a local quiz in a few weeks. I would suggest not relying on your daughter for your company but try different things, I tried quite a few different clubs before I found what I liked and I’m very happy now. Good luck and please make an effort to get out and about, it will take a lot of courage but so worth it.
Hi there my name is Pat and my wife's name is Rosalind. This is not a great site to talk to people on but we live in hope...lol
we live in the County of Fermanagh near a place called Belleek. We are both retired and we have a home here as well as a place in England.. We show dogs for fun and just recently we were at Crufts where one of our dogs did really well.
As I carried on working for 18 months after my due retirement date I differed my State Pension until I actually retired. Because I differed my state pension for 18 months my pension was increased as a result. With the Triple Lock in place this now puts me above the Personal Allowance and therefore now subject to income tax. This is before I take anything out of my private pension which will be taxed as income too. I’m fortunate enough to have a private pension but I had to work long and hard to make it worthwhile. Am I happy about paying income tax on it. Hell No. Have I any choice. Again no. Pensioners are always going to be an easy target.
I'd like to hear it, - far fetched is what the paranormal is all about,
If only people dared to tell,
I believe everyone is hiding an experience or two which is so 'out there' that they never dare tell..
Perhaps, one day, I shall make a collection and write them up in a book so people can read it and know it's NOT so strange - the people who laugh or ridicule or scoff are bullies don't let them scare you into silence.
Yes. I'd never heard of her until about 2 years ago. I have 3 of her books upbto now. She puts up a good argument about life after death/past lives/aliens etc..
I suppose it's like King Canute trying to stop the sea from reaching his throne. Trying to stop the incoming tide of smart everything is as impossible.
Much as I resent being forced to accept technology, it is unfortunately an evolutionary step which we will all have to adapt to or be consigned to a nomansland where we are unable to access the simplest of things like banking.
My landline phone will be switched off soon and I will be forced to buy a new phone, take a package of some sort and join the rest of the google-eyed race.
Excellarrat, a wonderful "Hello" from Manchester, UK! Today (Sunday) we have had sunshine, blue skies albeit a little colder than expected with a good breeze.
After deliberating for a few weeks I finally decided to join this site, so far so good. How is it you have found yourself here?
Just to be clear by not increasing the tax fresh hold if you have a small private pension along with the triple lock increase many will now have to pay income tax.
So give with one hand take away with the other.
Never ceases to amaze me the amount of contempt the privileged in society treat ordinary people with, even more amazing we let them do it.
The prince Andrew interview on T.V shows the utter contempt they have for our intelligence, Andrew actually believed that we would accept that nonsense as truth.
The water companies get fined for dumping pollution in our rivers then increase charges to the public to pay the fines, tax by the back door, meanwhile the bosses and the shareholders get a nice pay increase all on the tax payer.
Taxes will increase to repair the intentional damage done to the NHS in order to drive people into money making private medicine, if you cant get insurance you can go and die, they don't care, its all about profits, what a terrible me, me, me society we are leaving for the next generation.
To summarise the last 14 years of a Tory government have left in tatters.
G.P services.
Hospital Doctors.
Hospitals.
Dental services.
Ambulances.
Social care.
Road infrastructure.
Police force.
Railway.
School teachers.
Schools.
Housing.
Most of the above you can have if you can afford to pay for them privately, otherwise tough.
With the recent freezing of the tax fresh hold more pensioners will have to pay tax on private pensions.
I have always voted Tory but never again, I am no fan of Starmer so will probably vote for the Reform party, people might think it is a wasted vote but if we don't begin to change things they will stay as they are.
One thing I am certain of is we cant stand for the Tory greed and grab attitude any more when parents have to choose between heating or food for their kids, what a disgusting country the U.K. has become look around we are now a third rate country.
Yes I listen to Boom Radio, really great music from "our" days. I have a DAB radio and discovered the station by accident, absolutely love it.
I heard this and can't stop playing it. "Rockin' Good Way." Bonnie Tyler and Shakin' Stevens.
Hi Seraphim,
Have you looked at your local u3a website? They generally have loads of "interest" groups ranging from book groups, holiday, gardening, wine-tasting, walking, singing for fun etc. I joined my local group about 12 years ago and there's always something to join in with if the fancy takes you. This week I have attended the Singing for Fun session and tomorrow will be going to a near-by garden centre withe the Gardening group for a demonstration of the best plants to fill hanging-baskets and tubs. Good luck!
