Hello everyone in Southampton! My Wife and I moved from Fair Oak to a lovely Two Bedroom first floor Flat in Rollesbrook Gardens, off Hill Lane in 2014. We love living here, I have problems with my feet, and could not manage stairs, so we sold our Three Bedroom End Terrace house, which we had lived in for 32 Years, and brought up both of our Sons and now our Flat is all on one level, with a Lift, so I do not have a problem with stairs any more. We have Bus Stops on each side of Hill Lane, so we can get to Shirley, and the General on one side, and can get into the City on our Side, it is only a 15 minute walk down to the Railway Station. Hi all I've always wanted to spend my twighlight years giving something back, so I was so pleased to be offered the Showroom Manager position for Life & Mobility Solutions, inside the Haskins Retail Centre in Shepton (and no, this isn't an advert!) I now meet lots of people like myself, who suffer from issues surrounding older age, such as arthritis and other niggles (some more serious than others) that affect their mobility and now, I can help them get a little more mobile. I spent many years presenting TV and radio shows, so this is something quite different for me, but I'm really enjoying it. Pop in for a chat sometime. Ross

Hi everyone I'm new to the Silversurfers site and just want to say a massive thankyou to Life & Mobility Solutions inside Haskins Department store in Shepton Mallet, who have had the faith and foresight to offer me a management position at the ripe old age of 65. So many employers turned their back on me as I got older and wondered if I'd ever again find a decent job with a future and prospects. Now here I am managing their Shepton showroom and helping out other elder and disabled members of our local community. Anyone who knows me, may be aware that I am a former TV and radio presenter, who has presented live chat and music shows over the years but as with so many broadcasters, when you pass a 'certain age' you are paid-off and put out to pasture! My husband and I have now retired and I personally miss speaking with people and having a sense of belonging. I am not sure what we are looking for exactly, but we would like to join a community group that would help us interact with others but also guide us on what we can do now we are retired.
