Do you wear your poppy with pride?

The journalist Robert Fisk has written an article in the Independent newspaper headlined:

"The poppy has become a symbol of racism – I will never wear one again. The Entente Cordiale which sent my father to France is now trash beneath the high heels of Theresa May, yet this wretched woman dares to wear a poppy"

Do you agree with this man who appears to think that we only commemorate the white British people who were killed in WW1 and WW2 when we wear our poppies, or are you like me, wearing a poppy with pride to remember the dead of all nations who lost their lives in those wars and all the wars, which have blighted this world since then and continue to do so. It is easy, with hindsight, to say that these wars should never have happened but sometimes we have to stand up for the downtrodden and fight against the megalomaniacs who want to control the world. As for Fisk's comment about Theresa May - I shall treat it with the contempt it deserves! Presumably, he is a Remainer, and possibly a Jeremy Corbyn fan, but would he have mentioned the shoes of a male Prime Minister?

I agree with the you all, wear the poppy with pride. Let us not forget all who died in conflict including non-military who served their country in different ways.

I wear a poppy with pride. A grandfather fought at Ypres, an uncle was killed in Libya and my late father was a POW with the Japanese. My father never bore bitterness. He always said they were all young people (on both sides) who found themselves in situations not of their choosing. A book I can recommend is 'Wolfram - the boy who went to war' by Giles Milton. This book is about the experiences of his father-in-law. Although my father endured nightmares until his death aged 88, I know he would have enjoyed engaging in conversation with Wolfram.
