I have a post on Silversurfers Dating looking for a lady (men want to be captain) to join me on my canal barge Fidutia in France. Just search Barge Fidutia. I am Aussiebargeman. Quote "Spend the lockdown cruising French canals. Bring your pets"
I find it hard to believe that I have no takers as so many have that on their bucket list. I am doing a trip from near Dijon to near Strasbourg but I could be talked into going anywhere.

Hi. First time I’ve done this so please allow a little leeway for mistakes. My name is Wayne and I’m 68 yrs young. I own a 32ft 5th wheel and a specialized Ford F450 to pull it. I’m currently wintering in Powell River, BC, Canada and will hit the road on 1 May 2020 and return, to winterize, around Oct 2020.

I’m looking for a travel companion. No smoking or vaping, no drugs, unless it’s medical reasons, limited alcohol. I’ll cover food and transportation costs. This year I’ll travel throughout British Columbia, Canada. Sightseeing and fishing are on my bucket list, 5th wheel designed for off grid living. Short trip to Edmonton, Alberta to watch my oldest grandson get married, you’re invited. Recently widowed and I’m looking for someone to chat with and share trip experiences.

Do black flies and fishing go hand-in-hand?
Response from foxney made on 16th May 2020 13:12:37
Hello. I imagine your exciting road trip has been put on hold for obvious reasons. If you are in a position to ressurect it at any point, I would be happy to discuss accompanying you. I'm 62, fit and well, well-travelled, easy to get on with, a very good, usually 'dry', sense of humour, and I enjoy swapping stories and yarns. I agree with your opinions on smoking, etc.. I've been wanting to visit Canada and your schedule will be a great way to see some of it. I can be open-ended and very flexible on travel dates; I'll probably visit some parts of Canada either before or after them as I want to see as much of it as possible in one trip.

I am a new member and although 82 I still enjoy good health and active.
I play golf (fair weather golfer & not very good either) but enjoy the company and exercise. .
I love going to France with the Touring Caravan for stays lasting anything from 3 weeks to 12 weeks is the longest and enjoy the beaches, the food and cafes and BBQs in the afternoons or evening at the camp site.
Now I am alone I am seeking a Female Companion who may like to join me on a journey into France with the Caravan.
Nothing planned as yet for 2020.

Has anyone been on holiday with Solos Travel if so did you think overall
Response from David001 made on 11th Apr 2020 19:36:48
Hi Christiana, I did my first solo trip last November with Riviera Travel to Spain. Had the most amazing time and thoroughly recommend them. I was all set to book more trips with them this year, until half the world stopped!!

Therefore I don’t know about Solos Travel, but will be interested to see anyone’s comments.
Response from Christiana made on 11th Apr 2020 20:53:01 > @David001
Were there different age groups on your holiday
Response from David001 made on 11th Apr 2020 22:57:24 > @Christiana
Yes. I think the age range was from early 50’s to early 70’s. The group size was 25. Some flew in from Leeds, some Gatwick and some including myself from Birmingham.
Response from Christiana made on 12th Apr 2020 10:25:33 > @David001
That's where I would be flying from BMX-will have look online at hols
Response from David001 made on 12th Apr 2020 11:26:49 > @Christiana
Yes, it’s relaxing to look and daydream at the holidays, whilst we are isolating.
Response from DavidV3 made on 13th Apr 2020 11:55:10 > @David001
Hi. Do they offer places in Asia. Just back from vietnam.cambodia and Thailand
Want to go again in February
Response from DavidV3 made on 13th Apr 2020 11:58:41 > @Christiana
Hi read yours and David 001 info on solo. Just come back from vietnam.cambodia and Thailand. Want to go again in February to Malaysia. or Thailand again
I also go from Birmingham
Response from David001 made on 13th Apr 2020 21:16:04 > @DavidV3
Hi. Yes they seem to have trips to Asia, but I have only been interested in Europe. Sounds like you had a good time..
Response from DavidV3 made on 14th Apr 2020 09:54:27 > @David001
Yes was fabulous. Did meet other solo people so was not alone for long. Did not use a travel company so did not have single suppliments to pay. Booked flights direct
From Birmingham with international carrier's all hotels booked in advanced with free cancellation and no credit cards needed. Was a bit hot some days 37. But plenty of bars with cold beer.
Response from Christiana made on 14th Apr 2020 10:11:47 > @DavidV3
Yes they do charge for single suppliment for holidays much better going independently but us ladys have to be careful that's why we like then security of organised holidays as feel vulnerable travelling alone
Response from DavidV3 made on 14th Apr 2020 11:35:34 > @Christiana
I always have my own room. So having a travel companion is a good option. Each person pays an books own rooms an flights.
Response from David001 made on 14th Apr 2020 11:42:49 > @DavidV3
Yes I agree with the economies of self-booking, I used to travel a lot with work before retirement and cost was always a key factor. However, since retirement, I love the idea of “having it all laid on”, but now no longer have plans for the long haul trips.

Hopefully things should have cleared up by February to enable your trip to Malaysia. Fingers crossed.
Response from Christiana made on 14th Apr 2020 11:43:44 > @DavidV3
Yes always like my own room on trips unless sharing with family members

Response from Maltloaf made on 21st Feb 2020 11:20:25
If you do go to the Czech Republic don't forget to visit the fantastic caves, a wonderful day out
Not too far north of Brno near Blansco....
Also not forgetting Olomouc with beautiful buildings and it's clock, similar to the one in Prague.

Jo.
Response from MarjaLeena made on 2nd Mar 2020 19:32:24
I did Brno last January. Beautiful! Now I would love to visit Trebic and Olomouc. Thanks, guys for the recommendations!

Are there any retired ladies living in the Essex/East Anglia region who might be interested in planning a trip to Southern India or Peru later this year/next year?
It is so much more rewarding to share the experience.

Hi Looking for a travelling companion and ended up here! Still working, unfortunately for another few years before I can retire.

I love travelling and do so with friends, but find not everyone is off at the
same time as I am. I love travelling solo but also enjoy having a companion to share dinner with or discussions of the day.

I will be in Benalmadena in Spain, 19th to 29th of May, solo, and would love to meet someone to share some days out or evenings out. Male/female.

I live in London & love city breaks, so if anyone would like to do the same? Could message me please?
Response from AnnC87 made on 27th Feb 2020 23:01:47
Might be interested. Email e and we will chat. Just joined. [email protected]

Definitely interested, I love city breaks. I retired at the end of 2019 and find myself in a similar position to you re friends/family doing different things at different times. I travelled to the Cape Verde Islands solo this January gone. I live in Manchester.

Hello everyone,
I also was searching the topic of travel companions which led me here. I am a single retired teacher, 62, who retired before my friends. I want to travel while I’m still young, but traveling alone doesn’t sound appealing to me at all. I live in southern California (USA) but am planning a trip to Europe in the late spring of 2021. I’m looking for a travel companion, preferably female, to travel around Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, and Italy from about mid May to late June 2021. A friend will be joining me late June through August, but I’d like to extend my stay on the front end by 4-6 weeks. I have timeshare exchange credits that I plan to use for much of this time, so the price break is a nice perk. The hard part will be meeting and getting to know each other beforehand, but where there’s a will....
Hoping to meet many of you here, whether this trip works out or not. Take care and happy travels!
(ps My one deal breaker is smoking—I cannot travel with someone who smokes or vapes (è-cigarettes)

Hi, I am travelling to Spain, ferry from Plymouth to Santander in early July 2020, staying 1 week in the Rioja area buying wine and then driving across France to Bordeaux (buying wine) then to Caen for a ferry back to Portsmouth. I live in Gloucestershire, near Newent

I am looking for a fun, wine and food loving Lady companion for the trip, all expenses paid, but to share the experience on a friendship basis. I am 74 years of age but fit and active.

I am a non smoker, like a glass or 2 of good wine and also love good food.

In Spain I am spending 3 nights in Laguardia, then 2 in Pamplona, 2 in Sans Sebastion and then across France staying over night in Margaux, then to Nantes and then to Caen.

I drive a Landrover Discovery so a comfortable trip and all of the Hotels and Ferry crossings are first class.

I am a self employed Consulting Engineer, unhappily married with no other dependents.

Hello Everyone,
Hope you all are having a great day. I was looking at doing some traveling later and the thought of me doing it solo was daunting until I found this site. So, I am wondering if there is a female traveler out there who is interested in traveling perhaps later in the year. Switzerland and Italy are two places I haven’t and I have fond memories of Belgium with my wife when we travelled there about 25 years ago.. I would like to visit there again. I am open to suggestions. Please let me know if there is anybody out there wanting to be part of this adventure.
Thanks
Joe

Initially I am looking for a classy lady who would be prepared to drive me in my car while I am under suspension for six months. Nothing hard just general driving with possibly a couple of short country trips to become acquainted with the view to a possible round aussie caravan trip. I am 8o years young and have been living in the country for a while and now want to get back to knowing Perth. Outings, sightseeing, dancing etc are all on my itinerary and I am looking for a mature aged lady who may feel possibly house bound and would like a companion to accompany her on her journeys.

end July/August 2020 - Road Trip and Hiking - Heading to Romania with my 14 year old son. Travelling from UK, overland/road, through Europe and into Transylvania/Carpathian mountains. Likely to be hiking, cycling. Day and perhaps multi-day hikes in the mountains to enjoy the wilds, hidden gems and hopefully some legendary Romanian hospitality.

I would love a companion, female would be marvellous but am flexible.

If anyone has an adventurous spirit and would like to join me and my wonderful son, let me know.

J
Oh.... I'll be 56 by the time this comes around.
