Went to local astrononmy club in the village ladt week for the first time ,loved it, they made me welcome and allowed me to use their telescopes and binoculars. Saw the moons craters close up and the red spot on Jupiter. Loved it, going again next month.

I will not lie to you...lol. I have no idea what that is! Now my logic tells me its a telescope? You may understand now that when I posted my interest I should have included please teach me about the universe and all its wonders. .can you? Haha.

i love to see the stars , and i can find the north star i folow stuff on google nasa etc its a awsome topic , the sky at night bbc ? .
im happy to gaze in awe at the heavens above but coudent spend all night doing it

I am enjoying an app on my iPad called 'Skyview' free. You just point the iPad camera at any point in the sky (or below the horizon) and it will tell you what star or planet you are looking at. Even the space station. It even works indoors! So you can pre check what you want to observe in the warm, before you step outside.

Amazing. I must try that app. The only problem is that I have lost my password for my ipad. So, I may have to see if Samsung have a similar app. How very interesting.

You must! It is brilliant! It uses GPS to accurately pinpoint objects. A central circle on the screen is used to select an object. Even indoors, if you point it at the ceiling it will show you what is outside in that direction.

BTW. If it's not too inconvenient. You could try a factory reset on you iPad. It would mean losing any saved items. But sometimes it's the only way.
And I do also have the same app on my Motorola Android phone. So it should work on the Samsung.

If you have a local University of the 3rd Age (U3A) in your vicinity, they usually have an Astronomy Group you could join or alternatively a Local Astronomy Group. It is not necessary to have an expensive telescope to pursue a bit of astronomy, a lot can be done with a pair of Binoculars. BBC's Sky at Night Magazine lists things you can spot with binoculars.
