Model boat racing

My wife races model boats at the club near us in yorkshire,there are six speed boat races, lots of crashes and lots of fun, then later on there are yatch races, more gentle but very skilful. In between the racing there are cups of tea, bacon sambos and lots of nattering. Great day out, prizes at the end of the year and it passes wed and saturday afternoons on.

Hi, my summer plan is to get myself a RC electric boat (or two). Last summer it was off-road RC cars (two - both capable of a true 50mph plus). I also purchased a RC sailboat but that hasn't seen water yet.
What does your wife race?
I'm currently looking at Traxxas Spartan and/or the Proboat Recoil 26. I guess I ought to stick with the Proboat because of the self righting feature - I don't fancy swimming after them!!

I often see the odd boat in the reeds of our local park but never actually seen them racing. We have 2 big lakes and mostly they are fished. I did try a few months back to try and grab one that was close to the bank but failed miserably. We must of looked a right sight 6.30am my JR barking at me (like she was telling me not to do it) and me stretching with this big branch trying to get the boat. Luckily no one was about except one other dog walker, we had a good laugh about it. But I would love to see the lakes being used more for those kind of purposes.
