Just joined so I'm introducing myself.
Watch this postI will be 67 next month and retired from the many different jobs in my working life. I guess that I didn’t ever find my calling. I went to university at age 59 but when it was over it was too late to launch a new career. I wanted to lecture but students don’t want to listen to old fogies, so sadly I put aside that idea and settled into life as an eccentric dog owner.
I live in a beautiful Lancashire valley surrounded by hills that demand they be walked/climbed, how could I refuse?
I would like to do a bit of cycle touring but a recent diagnosis of spondylosis and some hip pain means that I may not be doing a world tour anytime soon!
I’m keen to make some friends as I have been on my own for a very long time now, my daughters don’t bother much with me and I don’t have a partner.I didn’t expect to be so isolated at this time in my life, isn’t it strange the way family and friends seem to forget us when we get past 60?
I will pop in regularly and hope to strike up some friendships.

I would love to chat to like minded people , and find out how they fill their time and what hobbies they have.
My husband and I love to travel. January found us in New Zealand, and we have just booked 5 weeks in Madrid, September / October
I am a keen metalworker, making all sorts of things large (copper candelabra 5ft tall) and small (silver jewellery). I also enjoy making patchworks for every new baby that arrives within my family and friend circle.
I recently started a blog on making the most of my retirement, and only stumbled across this forum when looking for other blogs in the UK retirement space. I come from a long line of ninety year olds, so I anticipate another 30 years or so, which is half my life again - hence the desire to make the most of it!
I like to find spiritual people who can help me out when I need help spiritually and be honest.
I am a Korean-American so I am not perfect in so many ways to communicate but I hoping to find good truthful spiritual friend.
I am an old and broken down person only my hope is in Jesus Christ.
Not sure about doing this, but here goes.
I took an early retirement this Spring from what was a pretty Stress filled career.
I've been off now for two months and already I love Not having the day to day business responsibilities.
Smiling again, I have begun to enjoy myself and relax.
Have met up with a few old friends from years ago and have started playing golf again.
I used to travel for work, but I still want to do a little more, but not necessarily alone.
We shall see.
Cheers
Steve

Welcome to Silversurfers - hope you find plenty of topics of interest to comment on and join in with. We are a friendly bunch 🙂 Whereabouts on Guernsey do you live? I had a holiday there a few years ago and had a fascinating tour round Victor Hugo's house in St Peter Port and also saw the little chapel in Les Vauxbelets. The island is beautiful, especially the coastline.
Welcome to the site. What a wonderful part of the world you live in, I would never want to leave!
Sounds as if you lead a very busy life, especially caring for all the little ones.
I too am an avid knitter but unlike you I tend to collect dogs rather than children! I do have two small grandsons aged 3 and 18 months and love being grandma when I get to see them, which isn't as often as I'd like because they live some distance away.
Hope you get chatting to lots of different people.
Take care
I just now joined this site. I'm an American (maybe the only one on here lol) who has travelled quite a bit overseas and loves it there; most recently went to Germany and if I ever win the lottery will move there. My mother is British and would join me. : )
I'm 50, turning 51 in July, am single, work full-time and would like to strike up some new friendships. I like to read, go to museums, camp, watch movies.
Hope to chat with some folks soon.

Welcome to the site.....I joined several years ago when the site was in its original format...we all moaned and groaned about it then but I have to admit I find it even more confusing to navigate now so believe me you are not alone in having problems finding your way around!
Hope you find lots of people to chat to on here.
