Do you renew your insurance policies on a comparison website or via a broker?

In this day and age, we probably all have many different insurance polices, covering a range of needs such as car insurance, travel insurance, home insurance and pet insurance. Are you happy to renew your insurance policies using price comparison websites? Or do you prefer that personal touch, and talk to a broker to ensure your needs are met? Is price the most important element when you renew, or is the quality and specification of the policy to meet your needs have a higher priority?

I don't do either really! I have a list of insurance companies that I trust and have had good deals from and shop around between them, I also haggle with them a bit which generally works. I do check out a few of the comparison sites just to see if there's any new insurers around since the previous year and give them a try as well, but straight to the insurer, not from the comparison site. I don't go just for the cheapest, I look for the cheapest within the range of insurers that I like.

I use a local insurance broker who we have used for years. they know me and my family and we get a good price and where I have had to claim like on a carpet we had damaged have always had a quick and easy claim with prompt payment.

Insurance companies love people like you, as do the brokers, you are probably paying well over the odds for your cover. But, if it floats your boat, it's your money, so get on with it.
I do exhaustive online searches for the best prices possible, your broker does the same, BUT, he is looking for the best deal for himself. How do you think brokers make their money?
