Is the constant quest for equality eroding the archetypal gender differences?Well said and very sensible commentViewDate:

Is the constant quest for equality eroding the archetypal gender differences?Adverts reflect society. Why would a persil advert show an old geezer like me doing the clothes washing. i do not even know how to work the controls. Why would an advert show me drinking Coke light so I could loose weight. These advertising people know who their buyers for the products are and the adverts are aimed at them. Bit simple reallyViewDate:

Have you encountered casual ageism? As an old man I feel a bit like wallpaper a lot of the time. I may as well be plain wallpaper but that is what happens when you are an old, ugly, bald male. I don't get attention or service like a young attractive person would do but that is life and I have got used to it.ViewDate:

Do Prince William and Prince Harry embody the best characteristics of a modern man?A footnote to my other comment about the Queen actually most people love her and hugely respect herViewDate:

Do Prince William and Prince Harry embody the best characteristics of a modern man?Good pair of British chaps. Lot like their mother and they both have charisma. People like them. The Queen is the same. People like and respect herViewDate:

Would you opt to be microchipped? No I would not. I am not going to be like some robot or an item in a shop that has a bar code on. Why on earth would people need that. i have spent my life working on the land and especially there could see no use for it at all. Besides I give away enough information all the time when on phone calls asking for my date of birth, mothers maiden name etcViewDate:

Is the greeting 'Ladies and Gentlemen' out of date? It's ludicrous and someone in the underground needs to focus on getting the trains running on time and get them cleaner rather than making up total nonsense like this which is against the English languageViewDate:

Is communicating via Social Media an acceptable format for world leaders?I worry that its a bit like sending emails verses writing. When you write you need to think and draft something out essentially. Now in the extreme if Mr Trump sent a very aggressive message out about a nation they could quickly react very badly. Its not exactly statescraft is it? I am sure some nations like the Chinese and Japanese for example think carefully before sending out a message...not just a shotgun, blasting away approachViewDate:

Should male and female Wimbledon tennis winners get the same amount of prize money? Its an equal society so even though they do a few less games think they should still be paid the same. Its a good thingViewDate:

Has the media become too judgemental?I think the media should be as judgemental and difficult as possible in the realms of the law. That's why people/companies etc cannot get away with anything in the UK. The media is so nosy and aggressive it keeps the checks and balances in society.ViewDate:

Has the media become too judgemental? Are they really left wing. Laura Kunsberg the BBC correspondent always seems to give the Tories a really good batteringViewDate:

Has the media become too judgemental?I agree we should be able to debate all these important issues. The media play an important part in this countries freedom and long may it continue.ViewDate:

Does the country need a new 'caretaker' prime minister?Lets get Boris in and have a bit of fun in our lives. He is totally eccentric, batty, unfathomable but a very clever chap, speaks a few languages, can speak some sense and is a good writer (I just read a book of his about London -a very good read). Surly he cannot be worse than the current PM? He may be very good as he likes to think of himself as a bit of a maverick and a 21st century Winston Churchill. Whats the alternative-more men in grey suits? Politics needs livening up a bit.ViewDate:

Over 50s ‘should have more sex to boost their IQ’To be fair PatsiR with the looks and profile of some of them I am not surprised their wives are not interested. The term "beer belly" is appropriate for most of them and some are so fat they look pregnant! I agree with your comments and with an average of 6 pints in a night at the pub it all adds to their undesirability.ViewDate:

Over 50s ‘should have more sex to boost their IQ’I am all in favour of having more sex and general cuddles but who with? This research probably makes sense as happier people and busier folk will generally be more switched on. Thats what I see among friends the highly switched on older folk have very busy lives and lots of hobbies. I must ask a few "Silver surfers" mates down the pub who think they are clever if its because they have having lots of nookie? After a few pints I can imagine some of the banter.ViewDate:

How easy is it really to get a job when you're over 50?I love gardening and have always thought about a landscape gardening company-just small. Us Silversurfers have got a wealth of experience so the last thing we should be doing is giving up work. Its a different world now compared to when I was a boy and its possible to set up on your own-you dont have to work for others. i think big companies will discriminate against older people especially like me over 60 but thats life.ViewDate:

Has Theresa May's power evaporated?Jeremy Corbyn fought a good election and had a lot of fresh ideas and actually showed himself to be a leader as opposed to Mrs May who was just a follower. Labour should grasp the nettle and get together with Libs and SNP and try and form a progressive government. All the media were negative to Jeremy but in the end it was Labour who had a good election-maybe a great election as my kids liked him and thought he was a good bloke who talked sense-as I did. Go Theresa for the sake of Blighty go.ViewDate:

Have you changed your mind? Its a difficult one as I am now not sure about labour with this latest "giving all students free university education" which I agree with by the way but I don't think it was in their manifesto and is just there for the youngsters vote. As for this so called "dementia tax" from Mrs May I just do not understand it. It seems like a good idea to riase amount you can keep from £23k to £100k but under the current situation I think...and I am not sure...a person can still keep their house but most not have more than £23k in savings/money? is this correct?ViewDate:

Do you want another EU Referendum? That is the problem it should not be one against 27. Anyway apart from voting rights its nothing like that. Apart from Germany the Uk is the richest economy with France in Europe. Most of the 27 are "tiddlers". We lost our empire 70 years ago. All empires rise and fall. The EU will be the same. Its in its decendency now unfortunately one reason of many is the UK is leavingViewDate:

Do you want another EU Referendum? All noble aims. What it didnt say was have one currency, have one set of MEPs all earning a fortune, have one law between all states. Its a vast bureaucracy and gravy train. Its simply too big. One powerhouse Germany-2 reasonable economies UK & France and most of the PIGS just basket cases. Greece should never have been in there or Portugal. Why are you so worried about the UK leaving? Japan manages quite well so does South Korea as independent nationsViewDate:

Has Theresa May got the right financial balance for pensioners? As a pensioner I am just confused as I think a lot of fellow pensioners are. one year the government have a £23,000 cap on what you have to have before they or local councils pick up the bill. Now as I understand it its £100,000. Whats the catch I ask and why when the Conservatives are trying to balance the books are they doing this as it seems to me they are giving money away? Or are they trying to bribe us? Who knows? I need to have another read and a think and lie down.ViewDate:

Should the Winter Fuel Allowance be means tested?I agree with you if your income is below £10k pa then in my view you should be paid double the allowance and richer pensioners should forfeit it.ViewDate:

Should the Winter Fuel Allowance be means tested? It probably should I have mates who have quite a bit of money and they say its wrong that they get it. It should be reapportioned to people who really need itViewDate:

Would you like to see the mail, rail and energy industries nationalised?Maybe we should Nationalise the rail and water. They have no real competition its not like a normal competitive environment. So how can I get competition on my drinking water...Can different companies pipe they water via my tap...No of course notViewDate:

Would you like to see cannabis legalised?Yes its about high time and if the government regulate it it should mean that it is a "sensible" product that is not going to damage peoples health-well not in the short term. I think the government should legalise all drugs and also sell them. It would stop a huge amount of criminal activity and the drugs would be "pure" plus it would help addicts and let them come out into the open. the current situation of criminalising all drugs has failed miserably.ViewDate:

Is now the right time to hold a snap General Election? Its not looks its just that Jeremy looks such a mess and I am a Labour supporter! David Milliband is smart, good looking and electable. His brother was a buffoon (eating bacon sandwiches comes to mind and a "windbag" and hence he lost the election. I fear Jeremy will be the same. My point is David Milliabnd would probably have won it if he was leader of the Labour party now
