Cycling
Watch this postAs my town is being turned into a cycle town I'm thinking of getting a second hand bicycle any advice or tips? Or am I being plain daft starting again in my 50s?

I now actually prefer cycling to walking and I use the app 'Map My Walk' for both activities - it's a great way to keep track of your monthly distances.
So, in answer to your question, you are not daft - you will gradually see improvements.
(I note it's an old post, but still applies to anyone considering getting back on 2 wheels!.)
In the end my daughter said "that bike looks a bit big for you mum have you been on it yet?" I said "it looks big because it's in a small kitchen!" I actually hadn't so when there was no one around I decided to get on it... well I couldn't even get my leg over the crossbar! so I stood on a stool and eventually got my bottom on the saddle ( this was in the kitchen) but my feet were dangling and I couldn't touch the floor! Well I thought this is no good for a 5ft midget like me! Bit late I know, but the next day I sold it and am back to being bike less again. That's my cycling experience to date!
I am starting out again finding activities to do as I am now on my own. I am interested in forming a walking group in London and looking for a travel companion. I am young at heart very fit and healthy and interested in travelling and finding a travel companion and a walking companion.
I would love to hear from you all.
