Ancient Mariner

In 1949 aged 16 I joined my first ship,the M/V Moorcot, A general cargo "Tramp" ship. We sailed from Hull to S,Shields to pick up cargo then sailed to Australia, Port Pirie. That took us 63 days, not including the bunkering stop at Las Palmas for 8 hours. We didn't return to the UK until December 1950,after covering most of the Far and Middle East. I am now 92.and I just wondered if there was anyone else out there who might have been on that voyage with me.

My father was MN, 1941 onwards. Joined at 14 came out in the fifties, never settled anywhere. I can't tell you much more because he didn't often speak to me about his youth.
