Yule Rules 2020

Yule Rules 2020

What to do about Christmas
As different yule rules now apply
Is it best to just forget it
And let it all just pass on by

Many will be floundering
Can’t decide what’s best to do
And some will say to hell with it
I’ll do what I want to do

The buildup has been painful
Many faiths having to adjust
So their seasonal celebrations
Are now left to gather dust

Many shops have had to close
Pubs and restaurants too
But you can still enjoy a takeaway
And get a nice hair-do

Social mixing is quite limited
Depending on your bubble
Lack of simple common sense
Could mean family bubble trouble

The tunnel light is now glowing
But we need to bring it nearer
Keeping Christmas small and short
Could not be any clearer

Christmas 2020 will be different
That’s the message loud and clear
So let’s ensure no one is missing
At Christmas time next year

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. I enjoy watching Rugby Union. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also dabble in photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.
