Who is Sue?

WHO  ARE  YOU,  SUE?

Each year I wait eagerly
For Christmas Cards to fall
Through my tinselled letterbox
To the floor  there in the  hall

It’s great to read  the greetings
From  friends both far and near
But  just one thing annoys  me
I’d  like to make  it clear

We  are  not  Mind readers
So  don’t sign your card ‘Love,  Sue’
Cos  I don’t have the  foggiest
Which of  many Sues are you

Are  you  Auntie Sue from  Guernsey
Or  Sue across the road,
Maybe Sue from up in Bolton
Or some old flame I once knowed.

Could  be  Susan  from  the  Golf  Club
Though  she’s also known as  Flo
Or  Susie  from  the  Book  Shop
How am I supposed to know?

So if  you  send  me  greetings
Please make it really  clear
So  I  know and I can  add  you
To my  Friends Card list next year.

Originally from Guernsey, but now living in Sussex, UK, I started writing poems and song lyrics when I was 16 or 17. I celebrated my 70th birthday last year, and am hoping that I've improved a little during the years between. Been published and also broadcast on local radio. Would love to be rich just so that I could visit Canada more often.
