Islandboy's bio
Originally from Guernsey, but now living in Sussex, UK, I started writing poems and song lyrics when I
was 16 or 17. I celebrated my 70th birthday last year, and am hoping that I've improved a little
during the years between. Been published and also broadcast on local radio. Would love to be rich
just so that I could visit Canada more often. -

Facebook PageWhen I was a nipper, (Heck, that's some time ago) There was something special 'bout Christmas and snow. Snow was a rarity, and as for presents we craved Weather was stormy, they’d fell off the sleigh Prob'ly the greatest fun that we had Was sat in the farm truck, borrowed by Dad Just driving around the old town at night Checking out other’s decorations and lights. Snowmen and Reindeer, and bright flashing stars And behind them the real ones, twinkling afar. We searched for the Bethlehem Star in the sky And thought we saw Santa, ever so high. We OOed and WOWed over lights the we saw Then turned and we headed for our house once more. There in the window a small sapling tree Decorated with tinsel by my sister and me Is the one I remember to this very day For we then knew the meaning so reaL and so true It’s family and love…….Merry Christmas to youViewDate:

Facebook PageFor St George's Day As I went sauntering out one day, a noble Knight I did espy He rode an armour'd steed so grey, which cast on me a fiery eye . The knight wished me a bright 'Good Morn', then asked perchance I knew the way To where the mighty Dragon lived, the one that he had sworn to slay . My blood ran cold for I had heard stories of such awful Dread The terror and the carnage wrought, and Maidens slaughtered in their bed . I pointed out to him the way, he thanked me with a courtly nod. I wondered as he rode away if I dare follow where he trod . So with great care I followed him through forests deep and moorlands wide But he soon felt that I was there and bade me to his side. . We travelled on three days or more, until we came to pleasant ground Or so it seemed until a roar rent all the air around. . The knight just smiled and drew his sword, said ‘Now fun begins' He donned his helmet, spurred his steed, cried 'God, let goodness win' . Another monstrous bellow, and a sight that froze my bones Alighted just before us, hot as Hell and hard as stones . At once the knight was at him, with no sign of mortal fear Dodging blasts of fire, and the cruel tail waving there . The knight was weaving, stabbing at the fiercest foe he'd faced Praying that his sword would find a soft and tender place . His God was with the knight that day, the monster's heart was pierced The land was freed of evil, the folk no longer cursed And I was there to see it all, by St George's nod The slaying of the Dragon for England and for GodViewDate:

A QUICK GUIDE TO HELP YOU ON YOUR WAYTried to post this on forum page. Not sure if it has worked or not ! I do find this all a bit confusing. "I don't remember the exact time or reason when I stopped beleiving in Father Christmas. Was there a definite point for most of us, or just a gradual awareness" -
