When I die

When I die

When I die, don’t bury me
In some ordered cemetery.
Don’t let my ashes or my bones
Moulder ‘neath a marble stone.

Let my dust feed flowers that glow
In breezes soft or gales that blow
Underneath a forest tree
Or on the moor so wild and free.

And If my spirit should peep above
The earth where I was laid with love
I’d hope to see tall grasses wave
And hear the songbirds o’er my grave.

Originally from Guernsey, but now living in Sussex, UK, I started writing poems and song lyrics when I was 16 or 17. I celebrated my 70th birthday last year, and am hoping that I've improved a little during the years between. Been published and also broadcast on local radio. Would love to be rich just so that I could visit Canada more often.
