Thank You, Mum

Thank You, Mum,

You gave me life
And cuddled me
You held me tight upon your knee
Thank you Mum

You kissed my tears
When you saw me cry
You said soft words to pacify
Thank you Mum

You nurtured me
And let me grow
Taught me things I had to know
Thank you Mum

You kept me safe
Watched over me
Encouraged me to be carefree
Thank you Mum

You soothed my brow
Cured all my sorrows
Strengthen me for all my tomorrows
Thank you Mum

You took my hand
Showed me the way
Inspired me each and every day
Thank you Mum

You offered advice
Let me have my say
You made me what I am today
Thank you Mum

You gave your love
Unconditional and true
I value love because of you
Thank you Mum

You held my hand
As you smiled goodbye
Your silent whisper said don’t cry
Thank you Mum

You are in my mind
Come rain or shine
I’ll always be yours and you’ll always be mine
Thank you Mum

You gave me your heart
I have it still
I cherish it and always will
Thank you Mum

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. I enjoy watching Rugby Union. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also dabble in photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.
