Retirement

Retirement

The days seem longer now dear
Yet there is still a lot to achieve
I move very slowly at first though
Sharp pain and stiffness to relieve

But once I’m moving and well oiled
By my meds and a nice cup of tea
I feel I can take on the world dear
Well that is how it feels to me

I walk through the woods and valleys
Breathe the beautiful fragrant air
The pup waiting patiently for me
Until she takes off without a care

Then she’s back as soon as I whistle
There’s never a need to shout
Tail wagging, sniffing the ground
I smile watching as she leaps about

When well covered in mud and tired
We will make our way to the car
She jumps in and settles down there
Daily exercise done! Thanks to Star

Not watching the clock anymore dear
I am as free as the birds in the trees
I can potter in my garden for hours
Listening to the sound of the bees
