Remember
The moonlight casts it shadows against
The headstones standing tall..
Stark white standing out against the dark.
Shadows rise from deep underground.
Walking slowly amongst the graves.
Eyes looking out of haunted faces.
Fear etched on their features.
They know not where they are.
They open mouths to call but
No sound is heard.
They turn and see their names
Carved on the stone.
They reach out to touch but
Their hands can’t feel.
Tears fall slowly.
Silently, one by one they lie down
Eyes closing for their eternal sleep.
The morning will come for you and me,
But never again for them
Remember.
