Pending
Pending
My life is in pending,
I’m sure I’m not alone,
I’m listening to ‘Greensleeves’
waiting on the ‘phone.
I’ve been sat her an hour,
they don’t miss a trick,
no matter what the problem,
they blame the Pandemic.
Essential shopping only,
tills with a protective screen,
I’ve learnt to stand waiting,
for the red light to turn green.
The internet is my best friend,
It’s becoming to me quite precious,
but we must be thinking all alike,
I’m pending while it refreshes.
I cannot book a holiday,
I’ve got to wait for that,
no passports needed at this time,
sun cream or floppy hat.
No check-up at the dentist,
G.P. I see online,
and if I’m out without a mask,
I get a big fat fine.
We’re told to have more patience,
be brave, and act less stricken,
like the time I stood in KFC,
when they ran out of chicken.
I’ve started to hide sweets and treats,
God forbid that I run low,
who cares about the toilet rolls?
I know what aisle to go!
I’m also pending every night,
usually half-past nine,
When I pour myself a goldfish bowl-sized
glass of chilled white wine.
So I’ll pend a little longer,
whilst getting on with it,
It’s ‘Chin up- Chest-out’ time,
and show some Dunkirk Spirit …. (hic!)
