My kind of people

My kind of people

People come and people go
But the best ones are those who really know
who you are!
Not just during the best times of your life
But the absolute worst moments too
The people who know and love you are there through and through

Sometimes life gets in the way unfortunately not everyone can stay
Make the effort, reach out, the important ones will hear your call
In an ideal world we’d keep them all
Some of them may travel the globe
The important ones will always come home

Sometimes in person or within your heart
Distance doesn’t mean you’re totally apart
To all my friends that have stayed throughout or just for a while
Thanks for being you and making me smile
I’m thankful for memories old and new
Thanks to the friends who have stayed through and through

I'm a 56 year old Mum of 2. I enjoy writing poetry about my first hand experiences. My parents both passed away within 5 weeks of each other and with the help of a dear friend John I was able to visit my Dad's family home in Ireland. I have a sausage dog aged 6 who is partly disabled after being paralysed 18 months ago. Thankfully he can now wobbly walk after a long period of rehabilitation. I also enjoy gardening and going to concerts and eating out with friends and family.
