Deliciously Red
Deliciously Red
I’m a humble little apple hanging happily on my tree
But I’m worried in case someone wants to pick me off for free
I know I look appealing in my beautiful bright red skin
And people want to eat me as they think I’ll keep them thin
I really don’t want to be picked, I’m not quite ready to free fall
People think I’ll keep them healthy so that doctors won’t need to call
I’m crisp and sweet and juicy and have a satisfying crunch
I fear someone will scrump me and plate me up for lunch
I had hoped that I’d stay hidden by all the green leaves on my tree
But one by one the Autumn season is setting them all free
I’m exposed to all the elements, the sun, the wind, the rain
I think my days are numbered, my loss will be someone’s tasty gain
So I must put my brave face on and enjoy my last few days
To bathe in nature’s glory and be enriched with sunshine rays
Time now for me to accept my fate, no longer shall I be humble
I’ll try my best to be so sweet in someone’s delicious Apple Crumble
