Deliberate Repose

Deliberate Repose

Today I would just like to rest, I’m in that kind of mood
A day of doing nothing much, in quiet solitude

All week long I’ve been busy doing every kind of chore
But today I’m very certain, is a day where less is more

Don’t much feel like getting dressed, so in my dressing gown I’ll stay
The sun is shining in the sky, but I certainly won’t be making hay

My energy levels are rock bottom, my silver cells have gone awol
And I’ve got this laid back feeling, without the aid of alcohol

Not going to worry what people think, as I kick back and just rest
I’m going to be consumed with sloth and allow it to manifest

I have some relaxing hobbies but I’m not drawn to them today
Maybe I’ll just close my eyes and dream of paradises far away

I might sit out in the garden and watch the bird life come and go
Or just wonder at the flowers, as the breeze moves them to and fro

I don’t plan on doing cooking, I’ll dine on wine and bread and cheese
I’ll slump across the sofa with a lap tray balanced on my knees

I might listen to some music, something that’s gentle on the ear
Nothing loud to raise my pulse, as I slumber in low gear

And when my lazy day is done, when I’ve slept so deep, and snored
I’ll awake full of vim and vigour, my silver cells active and quite restored

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. I enjoy watching Rugby Union. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also dabble in photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.
