August
August…
The sun in August is at its best,
Even at night, it’s too hot to rest.
The summer breeze is very warm,
We really need a rain filled storm.
A shower in the morning, again before bed,
Still cannot sleep, when we rest our head.
The nights are long, with humid air,
We need rain, to freshen the hot air,
School holidays are endless, too much time for kids to play,
They soon get bored and are under their mom’s feet all day.
When we were young, there were so many games to play,
We had, fun, laughter and adventures outside every day.
TV and computer games are what kids do,
Mothers get cross saying “go outside, please do”
Kids moan and complain saying “What can we do? ”
They no longer know the simple games we knew.
Grandparents try to bring back games from the past,
Hoping to form memories, to remember, and to last.
Finding pleasure with games of make-believe,
Enjoying the outdoors, whatever the weather.
All to soon Autumn will be here,
Mothers will give a silent cheer!
Kids back to school, in uniforms all new,
Time to do what you want, enjoy please do!
