A Soldier’s Prayer

A Soldier’s Prayer

Dear God,

I’m scared and tired in this foreign land
I have no wife or mother to hold my hand,
I know I’m fighting to keep our home free
But will anyone really remember me.

My comrades are now mostly gone
While I just keep fighting on,
God, do you know if I’ll go home
Or will I die here all alone?

I’m waiting for the guns to stop
Then once more it will be over the top,
I’m not a coward, I’m just so scared
For the horror of war I wasn’t prepared.

Amen
Vicki

I'm past my sell by date but still going strong, I love reading, gardening, writing and sketching, I live in a very small fishing town and love it. I was born in Coventry but city life was never for me, I have lived in lots of different places, but I am finally settled here (much to the relief of my husband)
