A fright in the night

A fright in the night

Had just settled down for a peaceful night
When upwards I glanced and got a fright
A gigantic spider sitting on the wall
What could I find to make it fall

To get it down made a brave attempt
A failed manoeuvre how wrong that went
Scurried swiftly under my bed
Shrieked so loud what now I said

Under on the floor a bright torch I shone
Couldn’t see its long legs somewhere was  gone
If only I hadn’t looked up and seen
Laying here awake I wouldn’t have been

Incy Wincy you’re so very unkind
To leave me here this praying on my mind
At night again, you I don’t want to see
For some sleep is much needed for me
