The Triple Lock is an excellent thing to put into a manifesto, not so good when the economic situation means a decent payout, maybe. The exchequer, in their wisdom, has frozen the level of personal allowance for several years; so taxpayers like me will lose a significant amount to income tax. It's alright for those in the civil service who can get significant salary increases and improved retirement plans and also those already ultra high earners who can afford to be on strike for exorbitant rises.
While ministers may pontificate on the "unsustainability" of our less than generous pensions, how about they publish the the future costs of civil service pensions?
If we have the wherewithal to continue foreign aid to China and India, we cannot be short of available money.
