Remember
Remember
A lone bird flies overhead above the green canopy reaching to the sky.
The sunlight filters down as I walk along the trail.
I feel cold.
I see a brick building before me with a chimney reaching to the sky.
A rusting truck and fences of barbed wire.
I enter the building and feel the sadness that pervades.
I quickly leave.
No birdsong, silence.
I turn away and follow my footsteps away from this place.
I reach the edge of the forest and feel the warmth of the sun.
I turn around and look into the darkness.
Faces look at me, fear, despair, sadness.
Arms stretch out.
I can leave this place but they are forever trapped.
Tears fall as all I can do is remember.
