Be careful what you wish for

Be careful what you wish for

When I wished for growing up, I didn’t wish for growing wide!
this old and misshaped body has a young slim girl inside.

My sagging jowls would beat the very best Bulldog in show,
and my boobs are in a place that my waists suppose to go!

In the tightest skirt my tiny bottom hardly made a dent,
now to cover it I could use the same yardage as a tent!

Long and slender legs I know are hidden here somewhere,
covered up by bright blue veins, and stubbly greying hair!

And just where did my slim arms go? The ones that tanned so well
I now have these old wobbly ones; short sleeves have gone to hell!

Don’t even get me started on what used to be two pretty feet,
with corns, bunions, and hard skin, hooves now would be a treat!

I now have bags underneath my eyes, crow’s feet at the side,
a turkey wattle for a neck, I have no room now left for pride!

Why did I wish so passionately to rush to be adult?
when I look into my mirror I want to cry at the result!

I'm past my sell by date but still going strong, I love reading, gardening, writing and sketching, I live in a very small fishing town and love it. I was born in Coventry but city life was never for me, I have lived in lots of different places, but I am finally settled here (much to the relief of my husband)
