Getting older….
Getting older…
I could tell you a tale of woes,
Problems from my head to toes.
Getting old, thought it’ll never happen to me
But suddenly I find I’m past the age of 73.
How did that happen, how can that be,
In my mind, I’m still 33!
My ageing body has another tale to tell,
Excuse me when I bend, I let out a yell.
My eyesight is poor, my hearings not good,
How to cut toenails, like a young girl would?
My bones are creaking my back aches a lot,
Is it time for me to be choosing a funeral plot.
Hell no, I have a lot of living to be done,
I don’t intend to sit around on my bum!
Pilates, yoga, keep fit or a swim,
All help to keep me fit and slim!
I volunteer to go out litter picking,
Keeping the countryside looking spiffing.
Out in the fresh air, enjoying a walk,
Meet like-minded people, have a talk.
When I sit down to enjoy a rest,
I write little poems, I do my best!
Online I play word games, with friends, far and near,
Keeps the brain cells working, old age is not to fear.
We have the time to do what we like,
To do what we want, when we like.
So aches and pains you can all go away,
I’m going to enjoy myself, whatever you say!
