Growing older…..

Growing older

Our spirit is willing, our flesh is weak,
Our muscles ache, our bones creak.
We cannot do what we used to anymore,
We need your help, just a little bit more.

We try to carry on, do our best.
Get fatigued, then need a rest.
Some harder things we just cannot do,
That is when we need help from you!

Technology is also leaving us behind,
Please understand, try to be kind.
Our brains are not fast, they may go slow,
We get forgetful, and that is a real blow.

As we age, things don’t get better,
Which is why I’m writing you this letter.
Things might even get much worse,
Heaven help us, we may need a nurse.

So please don’t mock, try to understand,
When we ask you for a helping hand,
We don’t want to get to old, or live forever,
So we won’t be a problem forever and ever!

The day will come when we are no longer here,
Then you can raise your glass, give a cheer!
Our hard work in the past, has not been for nought,
Your inheritance means you now have our house.

One day you too will also grow old,
You will shiver and feel the cold.
You will remember then, just what we were like,
You will remember and now know what’s it’s like!
