The Windy Lion
I love writing poetry for my Grandchildren, being young they love anything that’s a little bit rude, this is a favourite.
I’m sorry to any readers but I’m pretty Dyslexic so please forgive any spelling or grammar mistakes in my poetic efforts.
Thank you.
The Windy Lion
One night in the jungle, when all was still and quiet
A Lion gave out a mighty roar and gave a hippopotamus a fright
The Hippo was not pleased to have his sleep disturbed
He thought the Lion was thoughtless and being quite absurd
My dear Lion said the Hippo, in a very indignant voice
You may like to stay up late, but sir I have no choice
I’m down at the river but the crack of dawn
And if I do not get my sleep, well have you’ve seen a Hippo yawn?
What’s wrong with you my fellow that you should cause such commotion?
To wake a Hippo in the night, well the very notion
I have a tummy ache said the Lion defensively
And I’m sure you’d let out such a roar if you felt the same as me
Then the Hippo smiled and gave the Lion a potion
And when the Lion drank every drop there was an enormous bum explosion
That’s better said the Lion my tummy aches no more
But the Hippo didn’t comment just let out an enormous snore.
