July….

July….

The month of July brings so much delight,
The colourful flowers a welcome sight.
The digging and planting has all been done,
Enjoy your produce there’s more to come.

Vegetables, salads, strawberries with cream,
Raspberries, blueberries with clotted cream.
BBQs, garden parties on a hot summers day,
Antihistamine a must due to the cutting of hay.

We have lollies and ice cream in the freezer,
The kids want theirs off the ice cream geezer.
Time to get the paddling pool out,
“Yes please” you’ll hear them shout.

The bumble bees drone, heavy with pollen,
Bodies puffed out, looking quite swollen.
The baby birds are all fully grown,
From their nests, they have flown.

July nights can be very humid and hot,
Babies cry when laid down in their cot.
A summer storm will surely freshen the air,
Thunder and lightning, go out if you dare.

Summer holidays, off to the seaside we go,
Traffic can be heavy, the journey quite slow.
“Are we there yet ?” the kids will say.
“Won’t be long now” we say with a sigh.

Enjoy this month, Summer at its best,
Sit in the garden for a well-earned rest.
Reflect on pleasures past and to come.
Let’s all get out and enjoy the lovely sun.
